79071010200 Kenmore Range - Instructions

Followed service sheet. Measured 2.6 amps draw at igniter wire which should have been 3.2 amps. Replaced igniter and problem resolved.

pulled stove out to unplug the electric cord. Took oven door off and removed the bottom panel (2 screws) and then removed the burner (2 screws). took off old igniter ( 2 nut screws). cut wires and stripped the coating to wire to new unit.
Attached new igniter to the burner, and put the burner back in place and replaced the screws ... Read more so unit was stable.
Turned oven on to make sure ingiter was going to light oven, when oven came on, turned oven off and replaced the cover to the burner and the bottom panel in the oven,. Put the oven door back on........
Probably took 45 minutes.
I ordered the part late Friday afternoon, around 3, and the part was here Saturday Afternoon. I was impressed.

The whole job took me an hour. I would have done it sooner but I didnt a square head driver bit to remove the igniter from the burner assembly. First I removed the two screws that hold the element in place. I then pulled the element out about 3 inches and disconnected the two wires. I made sure I memorized just how the wires would re-connect with the wirenuts. I then re-assembled everything. Be sure to read all the instructions, especially how to properly install wirenuts. I ... Read more was able to access the wire connections below the oven chamber through the drawer at the bottom of the range. This is an important detail.

The oven igniter was working, the Sears repairman said by the phone the igniter was probley weak and not geting hot enough. Remove door ( 4 screws) Remove oven pan (4 Screws) remove burner sheld. remove lighter and cut wires. Install new. Remove storage drawer and splice new wires to the old at the back.

Unplug electric , remove old igniter, cut wires, shorten new igniter wires, strip insulation, wire nut together, attach new igniter, plug in electric, fire it up. Worked great.

6. Labeled and spliced wires.

suspected oven ignitor,went to partselect website and saw
others had same concern and ignitor was the failed part.ignitor was not getting white hot just orange-not enough
voltage going to the gas valve to open it.ordered and replaced
ignitor.repair took about 20 minuets-oven repaired.

Figured out which part we needed by reading about others problems; Followed instructions & Presto = oven heats!!!! Didn't have any problems removing or replacing part.

Replaced the flat style oven igniter. Turn off gas and unplug oven. Removed the broiler drawer, cut wires, unscrewed oven igniter (using a small/medium adjustable wrench), connected wires, fastened new igniter to bracket, spliced wire, twisted together, plugged oven back in, turned gas on, turned on oven after a few minutes...worked gre ... Checked voltage supply to oven igniter, had 120 v
to oven igniter, but igniter was not glowing.

First I'll say the instructions and comments from this site were right on, making it easy. I slid the oven out and unplugged the electric. Opened the door, took out the racks, took out the two thumbscrews at the back bottom and lifted the bottom plate up and out, and lifted off the heat guard plate. I could then see and reach the ignite ... Read more r pretty easily (the flashlight helped). The igniter may have been replaced before because there were already wire nuts on the wires. I unscrewed the two screws using the nutdriver and noted which wire (top or bottom) went to which wire inside. Unscrewed the wire nuts and removed the old igniter. Used the old igniter to determine where to cut and strip the new igniter's wires. Connected the wires of the new igniter using the wire nuts and put the two mounting screws in. Then just put all the other stuff back in (heat guard, bottom plate/two thumbscrews, racks). Plugged it in and started the oven. Got a small amount of "crackly" noise initially (maybe because the igniter was new) but that went away and it's been working fine and quiet since. Very easy (well, perhaps other than being on your knees, leaned into the back of an oven for a couple minutes). Well worth the effort.

After finding your page and using your trouble shooting guide, it was easy getting the right part and the video helped a lot. Removed the over rack- removed two screws to remove the bottom- two screws to remove the burner. Read more ter and installed new one. clipped the wires to length and renistalled the burner. Using the two wire nuts supplied put the wires togather and reinstalled the bottom. -First, I removed the two bolts holding the old igniter. Second, I clipped the wires then stripped them. Next, I connected the wires with the wire nuts.
