I watched a You Tube video first. I used a screwdriver to loosen the part that was attached to the dryer. I pulled it out of the dryer with pliers. I pushed the new part into place. The old latch worked fine so I did not replace it.

ice scraper instead of a metal putty knife (so as not to scratch the finish) to pry out the broken part. Then using my fingers on one hand I pushed in the new part. I closed the door to make sure the dryer started. It did. The end. Also I was told it would be a couple days till I received the ordered part. It was here in less than 24 hrs. Thank you for your excellent help.
