4804 - Instructions

1. Removed two screws, pulled out the element, voltage tested the element and determined it was an open circuit (bad element).
2. Ordered the part from partselect.com
3. Disconnected element, connected the new one, and screwed it back in.

Shut off circuit breaker to stove and collected the tool from the basement. Turned on flashlight. Unscrewed the two hex nuts from the old element/back of the oven. Slid the old element prongs out of the back, exposing the connecting wires. Pulled the connecting wires off of the old element, carefully, so that the connections wouldn ... Read more 't come off of the wires. Threw the old element pieces in the garbage. Connected the new element to the connecting wires and re-fastened the hex nuts. My husband had wanted to call the repair man, but it didn't look too difficult, so I decided to try it on my own. Boy was he surprised when I fixed it, and for a fraction of the cost of hiring a repairman! Ladies, we can do this ourselves!!! :) Thank you for being there for us to order our part from, Parts Select, we had our new part in less than 24 hours, so the shipping was blazing fast!!! My husband called our one and only parts store and got a price of $50 for the element. I used a search engine over the weekend and found the same thing for almost half the price. The element is attached to the back of the oven by two small screws. After unplugging the electricity to the oven and removing the attaching screws with a socket set (6.5 mm), you are able to pull the element several inches out from the back of the oven. FIRST THING! UNPLUG THE OVEN! After I made sure there was no residual charge left in the oven I took a 1/4 inch socket wrench and attached to an interchangable screwdriver and crawled in the oven. PF alarm appeared on display. Noticed clicking when cord was moved. Had arced for some time and melted original block. New part slightly different. Only has 3 lugs, old one had six. Stack using washers provided. Take note of colors before disassembly. Use caution while working through access opening. The edges are sharp. Only tools neede ... First thing I did was to turn off the range supply breaker. There were two screws, one on each side, that held the lower element into place. I used a phillips head screw driver to remove the screws and pulled the element out for access to the wires. I pulled the connectors off of the element and remove it from the oven. Very easy---simply unplug the burners, remove the old pans and replace with the new ones

I was extremely pleased with the easy ordering and prompt delivery of parts that actually fit as they should!

Most of the job is simple fastener mechanics.
Use a nut driver or Phillips screwdriver. Remove rear panel.

Pull out control knob. If it is stuck, wrap a small rag around the back of it and pull the rag steadily.

Carefully match marked terminals on the replacement switch with those on original. Switch terminals ... Read more may not be in the same location. Replace wires one for one, one at a time.

Carefully select the correct knob filler for the switch post. Several are supplied. Proceed with logic and measure the shaft length and the filler length and type to match.

I removed the two element screws, one on each side. This was very easy and fast.
I then pulled the old element towards me about
three inches to expose the wires attached to each

so replacement is easy, but you must hold the
terminal connected to the wire then pull ... Read more the element off. Do not try to pull off the element by pulling on the wire you can cause damage to the
wire and create a new problem. Once the old element was removed I attached the wires to the new element by sliding the terminal connectors on each end and pushed them firmly into place. I then pushed the new element back and replaced the screws on each side and the repair was complete.The repair took all of about 5 min. The best part was I received the the new element from Parts Express the next day and had the oven working within 24 hrs.. The repair service could not do it that fast. Do it yourself, you can save a lot of money!!

Ever since we moved to this house I had used generic or standard drip pans found in any store. Needles to say they never fit properly so I always ended up with some burners tilting so my food would not cook evenly Until I decided to search for stove specific drip pans and this is how I bumped into your site. First I unplugged the the stove. I then unscrewed the two screw holding the element. Because I had read the other repair reports on the site, I was very careful in pulling the element out so I wouldn't lose the wires in the rear of the stove.

My husband removed the screws that held the top of the stove on and then lifted the top up. It is hinged. He then took out the old insulation, wiped down all visible parts of the interior with a bleach solution and replaced the blanket insulation with the new insulation. That took care of the problem!

Remove old element by removing two screws on back wall of oven, pull attached wires out about 6" and disconnect. Reverse to install, very easy.
