Took out the old, replaced with the new. Needed second person to hold the flash light. That is the secret to get it plugged in and secured.

I read the step by step instructions that came with the part. I turned two screws and disconnected the electrical harness and Removed the icemaker. Quite easy. Turn off water supply and turn off ice maker at switch inside freezer. Unscrew the old unit, separate the electrical connection, and pull it out. New unit comes with parts that do not fit my refrigerator, so visually examine the new and old units, reuse any needed parts from the old unit, such as plastic water ramp. Reconn ... Wait up to 24 hours for new ice cubes to be made.

I watched the video from the link that was sent to me with the shipping notice. It was very easy to understand. I had no trouble at all. I'm 75 years old woman, however, and I can fix about anything. Don't be afraid to fix appliances yourself if you feel you have the knowledge.

The video on the GE site was great. Showed step by step instructions on how to remove the old ice maker and install the new one. Also helpful was the detail on the water chute which needed to be moved from the old ice make to the new one. Saved hundreds of dollars by not having to have a repairman do this work for me.

Super easy, had my 15 year old do it (with my supervision).
Followed very clear Instructions that come with the replacement...
But, he could not get to the plug location until he removed 4 screws holding the motor assembly that spins the ice in the drawer and moved it out of the way...

Works like a charm.

Took out the vegetable bins, the glass and the shelf rack. Replaced the left side and the center glide. Worked easily.

After what I thought was a thorough troubleshooting of said problem I replaced the Water Valve Assy which was really easy as the video shared, but it did not fix my problem. Still no ice though. Ice maker vs mother board at the rear of the fridge, Hmmmm. Went with the ice maker, watched video, ole Steve makes the plugs disconnecting look easy, I had to use a flat head screwdriver to open the clips (he doesn't mention that) and I had 4 screws where he had 3. Also he didn't mention about the instructions which gives you 3 options with your unit. I had to re-use my Plastic Stripper Plate along with the Fill Cup and Ice Maker Insert. After completion of installation and about a half hour later, I heard ice fall, Wooohoooo!!! Overall the experience will make me think to utilize PartSelect again when needed. Reasonable prices and decent shipping time. Now the freezer light is out...

Went to GE website and researched the problem for the model, determined that it was 90% sure it was the Ice maker, I ordered it and it arrived the next day, installed it and it began working immediately,

took 1 screw out and removed ice maker and slid new one in and replace screw and connected power cord

Ice maker was side mount instead of rear mount as shown in previous insructions. Removed one screw and slide ice maker forward. used flat head screw driver to undo the ice maker plug. Pluged it in and turned on the ice maker. Had new ice in a couple of hours. It comes with a round plug to square plug adapter, new fill cup and fill tube, all of which I didn't use.

Only needed to remove one screw, slide unit out and disconnect the power cord. Theb reverse the above operation to install the replace ice maker unit. Quick and extremely easy....

Literally took out one screw and a wiring harness. Removed the old plastic piece off of the old ice maker and put on the new one.Installed new ice maker with the one screw and plugged the wiring back in.DONE!
