363788 Kenmore Refrigerator - Instructions

I removed the Glass Shelf on top of the Vegetable Drawer assembly, unfastened the front rail from the broken slide rail and removed the entire assembly. I cleaned the parts and then installed the new rail. I placed the drawers in the repaired assembly and placed in the refridgerator. It really went well. I didn't need the other parts ... Read more order. I only had them just in case they were needed.

I removed the old gasket and snapped the new one into the grooves. No tools were required.

PartSelect provided excellent service. It was a GE manufactured part. GE no longer stocked this part.

instalation was very easy - but the part was 3/4 inch to long and a 1/32 inch to wide.Trimmed it with the "faithfull"
Dremel and it works!The instalation part of the "job" was less then 10 min.

Replaced icemaker assembly. Only 3 Phillips screws to remove the old assembly. Pretty much an exact swap. Was easy to replace but the connecting cable on the new replacement assembly wasn't very easy to make fit. Had to force it into a location that would be out of the way and allow everything to operate properly. That connecting cable s ... I found instructions on the web about how to do this repair, so I ordered the part with confidence. But the instructions simply said "pull out the old switchlight". That was actually somewhat difficult as the clip on the side intended to hold the part in was stubborn. I eventually used a utility to slice off the clip. From that point, ... Read more it was just a matter of plugging in the new switchlight , which was very simple.

The icemaker arm disconnected from the metal frame. This caused the icemaker to cycle and the heater to come on and stay on until the plastic parts melted causing a mess and stink. This action melted the ice and then the water fell through the frozen items in the freezer and refreezed in the lower portion. OK, I remover the dead icemaker ... Read more and tossed it away. I installed the new icemaker and the wiring harness didn't fit right (way to long). I retrieved the old icemaker and removed the wiring harness from it. I removerd the new ice maker and installed the old wiring harness to the new icemaker. I then installed the new icemaker, plugged it in and turned on the power. No water, I ordered the dual solenoid water valve, installed it with difficulty (another story) the turned on the power. I reinstalled the ice bin and found it didn't fit. The icemaker was to low and couldn't be adjusted, 1/4" higher would have been great. I shoved in the bin anyway, I was out of ice for my scotch, and it started making ice.

Replaced defrost thermostat and defrost controller and also noticed that run capacitator for compressor almost oxidized in two and ordered and replaced and cleaned out drain tube and invertor (which was blocked by frozen peas and other food)or water to drain during defrost cycle and put everything back together and seems to work fine now. ... Unplug refrigerator and turn water supply off to the ice maker. Remove the screws holding the bottom cardboard-like cover from the lower back of the refrigerator. Remove the water supply line to the old solenoid with 1/2 inch wrench. Unplug the two power supply wires to the old solenoid. Remove the screw that holds the solenoid to the bac ... Read more k panel of the unit. After the solenoid is pulled out, remove the output hose with a 1/2 inch wrench. The configuration of the replacement solenoid is likely a little different than the original, but it seems to be rather universal and will fit back into place and perform properly. The new solenoid does not use a compression type nut to secure the output line. It's just a simple push-in connection. The wires may have to be rerouted a little, just keep them clear of the evaporator fan blades Reverse the removal procedure and you're done.

Other than having to bend the bracket 90 degrees it was an easy install.

Had to defrost a bit and then was able to remove rear freezer panel by simply removing the 2 screws holding it in place.
Old motor easily removed from its mounting bracket. and replaced with the new. Had to use the two wires sent with the motor. I clipped off the male connectors and joined them with wire splicers to the black and r ... Read more ed wires clipped from the old motor. Then reinstalled.
The replacement motor works great. I was afraid the old fan blade might not fit but it slid on perfectly.

After determining that the ice maker on this relatively new refrigerator would make ice cubes if it received the proper amount of water. Ordered the valve and received in a couple days. Using a nut driver, removed the cardboard cover from the back of the refrigerator. Removed one screw holding the valve bracket to the fridge and removed a ... Read more nother screw holding the water supply line and the water line to the ice maker in place. Pulled plug on fridge and removed 2 wires from valve. Removed inlet and outlet lines from old valve and reversed the process installing the new valve.

First i removed everything from the bottom shelf, removed the glass, then removed the entire bracket assembly. Then removed the front metal strip to expose the front mounting screw, then removed the rear screw. Installed the new part and reversed the procedure.

Empty freezer;
Remove shelves and ice trays;
Unscrew and remove the rear vertical panel;
Unscrew and remove fan housing;
Unscrew and remove fan from fan housing;
Fan blade slides off the motor shaft without tools.
Reverse order to reassemble with new fan motor.

I did have to use the wire extensions ... Read more that were included as the replacement motor had the electric connections in a different location from the original motor.

Overall, this was an easy replacement.

Removed the 2 drawers and then the glass shelf.
Positioned the drawer slid and tightened to rear screw and the front screw.

Replaced the shelf and the 2 deawers.

What's the big deal? Any 78 year old woman can do it.

First removed the two screws that holds the old ice maker in place. Unplugged it. The freezer compartment was too narrow to allow the unit to slide out or turn in any other direction.
