The instruction video was great, mine was easy than even the video showed it to be. I changed it out in less than 15 minutes and it works great. The niocve things I didn't have to wait for a repairman or my husband to fix the problem.

Removed two screws, lined up the rail and replaced the screws. That was it!! Glass shelf sat on top and bin slid in smoothly.

Installing the actual ice maker was quite easy. What takes most of the time is preparing the freezer for the install. Need to remove all shelving, (and the door) to gain access to the unit. The ice maker is simple to install once access is achieved. Putting everything back together takes some time.

I had to defrost the freezer to free the icemaker. After that the installation was plug and play with two small exceptions: 1) I had to file down the width of the left hand tine of the old stripper so that it would fit the new icemaker, and 2) the motor housing of the new icemaker was slightly wider than the old one. I ordered a new micro switch that was activated by the high ice lever. Once the switch was replaced the ice maker cut off as it should have and stopped producing too much ice. YHis job was of moderate skill level, the most challenging was replacing a spring that popped out then reassembling the unit.

Took out the old, replaced with the new. Needed second person to hold the flash light. That is the secret to get it plugged in and secured.

I read the step by step instructions that came with the part. I turned two screws and disconnected the electrical harness and Removed the icemaker. Quite easy. Turn off water supply and turn off ice maker at switch inside freezer. Unscrew the old unit, separate the electrical connection, and pull it out. New unit comes with parts that do not fit my refrigerator, so visually examine the new and old units, reuse any needed parts from the old unit, such as plastic water ramp. Reconn ... Wait up to 24 hours for new ice cubes to be made.

I watched the video from the link that was sent to me with the shipping notice. It was very easy to understand. I had no trouble at all. I'm 75 years old woman, however, and I can fix about anything. Don't be afraid to fix appliances yourself if you feel you have the knowledge.

The video on the GE site was great. Showed step by step instructions on how to remove the old ice maker and install the new one. Also helpful was the detail on the water chute which needed to be moved from the old ice make to the new one. Saved hundreds of dollars by not having to have a repairman do this work for me.

unscrew one screw unplug.insert the ice maker,put the screw back in you have ice less than ten minutes
