363688 Kenmore Refrigerator - Instructions

Was concerned that new icemaker was quite a bit different than the one we were replacing. Called GE to confirm it was correct.

Went ahead and installed the unit, using the supplied electric cable adapter.

A little difficult to deal with the extra cable, but everything worked OK and it's making ice normally.

I just let the gasket sit on a flat surface for a couple of days. I didn't immerse it in hot water as the directions stated. It went on fairly easy. Just took a bit of patience. The fact that it was packaged nicely without it being jammed into a tight bundle probably was a big factor in the ease of installation.

I pulled the refrigerator away from the wall and turned off the water to the refrigerator and unplugged it from the wall. After removing the icebucket from the freezer I located the mounting screws, loosened them, unplugged the electrical connection below the icemaker and carefully removed it from the freezer. Using the slots provided on the new icemaker I placed it over the mounting screws after aligning the water inlet pipe properly. I tightened the mounting screws while maintaining the icemaker in a level position. I plugged in the electrical connector. Then I replaced the icebucket, plugged in the refigerator back into the 110VAC outlet, turned on the water and repositioned the refrigerator in it's normal position.

After finding your web site, the description of my problem was pretty clearly referenced as to what parts where the likely problem. Then in the refrigerator section, remove the controls cover and then take the controls compartment loose and unfasten the old defrost control, and install the new one. Then put every thing back in place. Plug the refrigerator back up and set the temperature to medium.

I followed the directions of Steve on the installation video. He makes it easy to do the repair with his step by step description of the installation. I have repaired three different aging appliances with help of Steve and PartSelect's very helpful Customer Service.

My repair was simple. Just put the shelf in the holes in the freezer. The AMAZING thing was how quickly I recieved the part after placing my order. I placed the order at about 3:30 pm on a friday checked the box for ground shipping and the part was at my door the next morning. I think that was a mistake, but I was impressed.

Pulled the door off easily and noticed that the spacer on the Center hinge was ground down to nothing and that a small screw in the bottom plate of the door was half way out. This screw would catch on the cabinet Center hinge bracket and stopped the door from closing. Problem was solved by tightening the screw and putting in a new "spac ... Read more er" that kept the small screws from contacting the Center hinge bracket. The freezer door now closes like new.

I opened the fridge door removed the tape the customer had on it to keep in place. Gasket was super worn out I pulled in it to remove it. Cleaned it where the new gasket was gonna insert. The old switch was hard to remove. Thinking that I may have to loosen the wires I used a socket wrench to remove a clamp. This was unnecessary. In the end the switch did come out using a large size screwdriver. The problem was that the expanding plastic tongue is not visible from the ouside so you have to try to feel your way around. ... Well, when I opened the package the gasket was bended in half so I opened it and put it first on the floor and after some minutes I put it on the refrigerator side.
Then I took a screwdriver and easily removed the old gasket, cleaned the the channel where the new gasket had to seat or be inserted. Then I took the new gasket and put ... I continued on both sides from top to the bottom, one by one.
When I reached the bottom I began from the left to the right inserting the gasket into the channel. To complete the installation at the bottom I had to pull the gasket a little to properly reach the corner and I finished
To make sure the gasket was on place I hit the gasket with my bare hand all around and I was done.
It was very easy, I just followed the instructions given by the manufacturer

You will need a 1/4" nut driver or socket & extension.
Remove the back panel of the freezer compartment.
Pull of the wires, remove the fan assembly and replace the fan motor.

Performed self test.turned off ice maker switch four 5 minutes.Then turn on switch,within 10 seconds,pushed ice paddle 3 times,with 1 second in between each push.Push all the way back and release. After replacing the light bulb and still no light I manually pushed the light switch button. Intermittently the light would come on then go out. I removed the power plug from the power source then replaced the light switch. I plugged the refrigerator back in and now I open the door the light comes on and stays on until the door is closed.
