Turned out the issue was easily solved by replacing a single, inexpensive fuse.

First off, UNPLUG THE MICROWAVE.

The fuse is located under the plastic grill at the top of the microwave. It's held on by two screws. Once you've removed the screws and taken off the plastic grill, you go to the right side of the mic ... Read more rowave and remove another screw that holds a small metal grill in place. Removing the small metal grill is probably the toughest part of this repair. You kind of have to rock it back and forth a bit to get it to release. Once that's off, you can get to the fuse. I removed the burnt out one with a pair of needle nose pliers. I also put a small piece of cardboard under the fuse when I did this so I didn't accidentally drop it into the innards of the microwave. I did the same thing when I replaced the new fuse. I then plugged the appliance back in and made sure it worked. Once that was confirmed, I replaced both grills.

I have a GE Advantium/micorwave oven. It is the model that has the hinges on the side, NOT the bottom. First, removing the door is necessary. Read more t screw driver or putty knife to go around the permiter releasing the internal, unseen, plastic catches that hold it on. This should be done carefully, to avoid breaking the catches that you can't see. After the plastic is mostly removed putting in the spring is not too difficult, but a second set of hands is almost manditory.

Easy as pie!
1. Remove the 2 outer screws holding the top vent in place and remove the vent (it helps to have the door open)
2. Lift the door up, pull the top of the door away from the hinge and then list it up a little more to clear the bottom hinge.
3. Lay the door on the counter and with a putty knife, work your way aro ... Read more und the perimeter of the door between the door and the inside bezel. The bezel is held in place with little tabs spaced evenly around the perimeter.
4. Once the bezel is off, the catch assembly is accessible. List it up against the spring pressure, and push it towards the outside of the door to release it from the frame.
5. Reverse procedure to install.

Unscrewed the light cover beneath the microwave with a phillips head screwdriver. The bulb is very tiny and has 2 straight parallel prongs that slide into 2 small holes. Read more essure to pull out. New bulb arrived within a couple of days. Due to high shipping cost, suggest buying 2 or more bulbs at once. Bulb is often used as a kitchen night light so that is probably why I only got 9 months out of it.

The old fuse is perfectly good. The new ones arrived within a day.

Well first of all I thought I ordered the wrong light so I called and ordered the Halogen light. When the Light came in I went to change it out and realized the first bulb I ordered was the correct one. The Parts select customer service was extremely helpful and made my mistake easily resolved. At any rate, changing the bulb was a piece o ... Read more f cake! Just unscrew the plate (1 screw) and take out the old bulb screw in the new one. Presto, it was done. However my glass cover plate for the light somehow broke, so I ordered a new one with the help of customer service. I replaced the plate which only took about 5 mins. To replace the plate you just unscrew the one screw and on the metal frame the glass plate sits on a metal frame which has prongs that you pullup and then slide the glass out. Once the glass is out you slide the new one up and push down the prongs. Lift the frame back up and screw it in.

I broke the tray glass in the microwave cleaning it so this was a no brainer. The best part of this was the PartSelect experience. I ordered the part on the 30th of December and received it on 3 Jan!!! I have used PartSelect before for fridge repair and had the same experience.

No actual repair was necessary. However I do want to thank PartSelect for sending a replacement so quickly.

the door lifts off two pins after you remove the top piece. I broke the choke cover prying it off. It has little plastic things that hold the cover on. I popped it off from the outside. The sides come off real easy. Even breaking the choke cover it was still almost $200 cheaper than the repair man.

First and most important - unplug AC power 24 hours before service.

I removed the vent cover above the main door, then I removed the screw which holds the control panel in place, unplugged the main connector on the control panel so I would have enough room to work, removed grounding screw from the DIODE ASSY, pulled connector o ... Read more ff the CAPACITOR with pliers, installed new DIODE ASSY.

After installation of DIODE and the control Panel, I plugged in the AC power and allowed the CAPACITOR to charge - this takes about an hour or so, then test. Works perfect!

Went to onlin source, found a couple youtube videos then went to the GE site which had a not-too-easy that find trouble shooting guide. It was extremely helpful as it described a fuse as a fix 80% of the time for touch paid failure. I really didn't believe it would b a fuse, but it was the cheapest fix, $8. I took a guess and replaced the top one ( neither fuse was black or burned to indicate a failure but the top one was a bit mor greyish). put it all back together and it works fine.

took off upper grille and touch pad and removed the old line fuse and replaced with a new fuse ...turned on it is working fine...sources of help: UTube and GE manuel

first I had to remove a plastic cover on the back of the door to get to the thing your instructions said where to start. I figured out how to do that myself. Taking this cover off was difficult because I was afraid I was going to break it. After I got the cover off I noticed that most of the plastic clips that held it on were so crysal ... Read more ized ( I guess from the continued heat exposure) that the broke off. After removing a few screws I now was able to do what your instructions told me to how to remove this door plate. Again just some pastic clip held it in place. I could not unlatch these clips and remove this cover because you had to hold about 3 or 4 different clips apart at the same time and just myself couldn't do that by myself. So eventually I had to get some help with another person to hold all these clipps apart at the same time to get this plate off. After we got this off it was easy to change the door latch and put back together. So not knowing how to do this and your instructions not able to tell me everything I needed to know, I turned a 15-20 minute job into about 2 hours.
