A piece of the Bake Element broke off
6 of 6 people found this instruction helpful.
  • Keith from Charlotte, NC
  • Easy
  • Less than 15 mins
  • Nutdriver
I unplugged the stove then took the oven racks out. Then I took a nutdriver and took out the 2 screws that held the Bake Element in place. Pulled the 2 prong's out of the oven and removed the wires from the tips. They pulled right off.
Took out the new Bake Element and reversed the process. Attached the 2 wires put the 2 prong's bac k into the holes and screwed the 2 holding screws back in. Plugged the Stove back in and turned her on. Doing it myself saved me $150.00.

The trim vent piece on the door of my oven was damaged when I used the "self clean" on it. A towel hanging on the handle started smoldering and stuck to it leaving a bad burn mark.

  • Jennifer from Spanish Fork, UT
  • Easy
  • 30 - 60 mins
  • Socket set, Wrench set
I first used an Allen wrench to unscrew the two screws that held the back of the oven door to the front. Then when I got that apart it revealed about 12 other screws that held the handle and trim vent piece on together. I unscrewed each of those with the socket set (it took me a while to find the exact size I needed). I took off the han dle and trim piece and slid the new piece onto the slots, put the handle back on and then worked in reverse order to screw all the screws back into their places. The only problem was that I didn't realize some of the screws were a bit longer than others and by the time I took them all off and went to screw them back in, I realized that I hadn't noticed which places needed the longer ones and which had the shorter ones. So if you are doing this repair note that not all the screws are the same and you will want to remember which ones go where before putting them in a big pile like I did. After all the screws where in place I pushed the back of the oven door together with the front and used the Allen wrench again to screw them tightly together. Pretty easy overall- at least for a housewife!!

Made the electrical connection on the back, replaced the cover and five screws. Plugged the electrical cord back in and tested the oven tem perature compared to the setting. Worked great. My wife then made a small batch of muffins to test it out and they were good.

Old coil burned out

  • Matthew from Cynthiana, KY
  • Easy
  • 15 - 30 mins

After reading all the repair stories I knew that their wasn't any extra wire when the old element is removed. Well, even with that knowlage one of the wires came loose and slipped back in. Fortunately I was able to remove a panel in back and push it back through. I was afraid I would have to take off the whole back but instead there is a panel covering the wire running down the center of the oven. After removing 5 screws with the same nut driver as the one for the coils I had it done in minutes. I had no problem and I am NOT a 'do it yourselfer'. Oh, did I mention I ordered the part on Friday and received it on Saturday standard shipping? Pays to live the next state over from the place shipping it.

Baking element cut on fire
5 of 5 people found this instruction helpful.
  • Hedayat from LONGWOOD, FL
  • Easy
  • 15 - 30 mins
  • Nutdriver, Pliers
In this case I had to pull the range out to disconnect the power and also to remove the plate covering the electrical connectors. This was the only way to reconnect the elements terminals since the wires were too short to do it inside the oven. Undo the 2 screws holding the element in place from inside the oven to remove and install the n ew one before connecting the terminals from the back. Put back the rear cover and reconnect the power.
