Dryer stopped working

The Door Swith Acuator Spring was broken. I unplugged the dryer. Removed the two screws on the top control panel. Lifted the top of the dryer and propped it up. Then removed the two wires attached to the door switch (remember to label them with tape-one without and one with tape). Then as suggested by a previous "repairman" loosen th e two screws that hold the switch just enough to remove the actuator. You do not have to completely remove the screws. Slip in the new actuator and reverse the process. Voila ... you have a new dryer and a very happy better half. I was given a kitchen pass to play golf and savor some "spirit" water.

Advice: Don't slam the dryer door. The actuator will last longer.

The dryer just stopped after a new load of clothes was put in. It appeared to be a power problem as there were not warnings, it just stopped. After checking the power, I suspected it was an electrical interlock problem. After nosing around, I traced the power to the dryer door interlock. Sure enough the switch was fine, but the mechan ical lever was worn away. After Googling around for a replacement I found PartSelect.Com. Found the part, ordered it, and I am back in business. My wife is not happy though, as she wanted a new dryer:)

I first noticed that the tab of the door switch snapped off so the safety on/off switch did not work when the door was closed. I temporarily taped the switch closed so I could use the dryer. I found the model number from the unit and easily found the schematic and part description from the website. I placed the order and had the part in a few days. Problem solved. Thank you

dryer would not run
  • Jeffery from Cordova, AL
  • Easy
  • 15 - 30 mins

removed 4 screws. 2 in the back and 2 at the lint screen door. Remove top lid of dryer and looked down and there was the door switch with the broken actuator spring. A diagram of the dryer with part locations is very helpful. I checked the switch with volt meter to make sure it was ok. It was ok! Replace the actuator and put every thing b ack together and dryer works just fine. Thanks to PartSelect I was able to buy the actuator spring buy itself and not have to buy the switch also.

My dryer would not work when I closed the door.

I thought it might be a damaged switch but when I removed it I noticed a metal clip that was attached to it was broken. The pin on the door pushes against this clip when the door is closed which in turn opens the circuit on the switch. I looked up the model on this website and viewed the parts diagram. There I saw the part I needed and it was listed below along with the cost. Couldn't of been easier. Thanks!
