To replace this compression spring, you will need a socket wrench, flathead screwdriver and snap-ring pliers. It is recommended you prop your lawnmower up on a piece of scrap wood to make the removal and installation of the new tire easier. Use the flathead screwdriver, if necessary, to remove any wheel covers on your lawnmower, and then use the socket wrench to loosen and remove the wheel. Use some snap-ring pliers to remove the retaining ring on the outside of the wheel axle - you should then be able to remove the pinion connected to the axle.
