1069642290 Kenmore Refrigerator - Instructions

Followed the very easy instruction that came with kit. Even a partially trained Monkey could do it with the easy instructions. very satisfied. Had Ice in about an Hour.

My grandson did all the installing, he is really good at anything he goes to install, needs to look into something for him in this catagory, he said instruction sent was really easy to understand, will order from part select again. Thanks!

Took the old fan out and put the new fan in.

Remove back cover of freezer compartment; Remove old fan assembly, new fan terminals did not exactly match old one so I had to remove one of the terminals from old fan and attach it to new fan/ then install new assembly and repaced freezer cover

According to the instruction manual, except for using a saddle clamp and copper tubing. I have been buying bags of ice for over 15 years and finally when I bought a bag that had almost the whole side torn, I got angry enough to spend the money for the icemaker. One problem though,the local water isn't that great tasting and the icemaker didn't come with a filter. Upon checking new refrigerators, I find that some of them don't either.

Replace ice maker

It started out being a disappointment. I just moved into a new place that needs many repairs so I didnt want to spend too much time on this one. I ordered this part which arrived in just a few days. Not knowing exactly what was broken I just ordered the whole thing. When I opened the box, the first thing I noticed was that one of the ... Read more parts of the new ice maker had a big crack in it. Not wanting to go through the hassle of boxing it up and going through the return process, I started taking it apart and replacing the worn or broken owned, (exactly why I ordered the entire unit). Nevertheless, I wanted ice so I fixed it with some of the new ones and some of the old ones. By now I've paid too much for the unit but it was my choice not to send it back and I now have ice. It was pretty easy to fix once I had the parts.

I tried to remove the old light switch using a putty knife and a hammer. It was hard to compress the plastic tabs to pull it back through the hole, but all of a sudden, the lights came on. I guess banging on the switch freed-up the contacts. The new switch is now a spare part in case I need it.

After receiving the new part almost immediately,using two screw drivers, removed the broken switch from the plastic frame. Be careful not to scratch or otherwise tear the plastic...very pliable. Since the original switch was factory installed and the wires were packed in fiberglass insulation, the switch came out but the wires and clips ... Read more were still in place and could not reach the new switch. It was necessary to pull them down with bent long nose pliers...used a lot of "pull" but the wires held up.Connected the switch, turned the power on and there was light! Reports from other users really took the uncertainty out of the task.

I tried to just replace the cover rather than the whole unit but it was impossible - the cover would not go/stay on. I tried to remove the old unit completely but it would not unplug it was practically fused to the back of the fridge and the liner was cracking. followed the video as instructed. Saved two repairman calls, one to find the problem, one to install. Net savings was about $130.00

Removed the six screws holding the bottom access plate found at the rear of the refrigerator. This gives you easy access to the run capacitor that has a retaining clip. Remove the wire clip and pull out the capacitor (it has two quick disconnect terminals). Reverse the process using the new run capacitor to complete the repair.

Replaced original ice-maker with the ice-maker from the kit. Operational check was good.

The repair was super easy and the part worked like a charm. I love my new ice maker! Plug in the wires for the new one, slide it down onto the two top, loose screws, tighten those and screw in the bottom one, replace freezer shelves and you are ready for ice...with no huge iceberg fouling up the ice in your ice cube tray. Simple! The wiring thing worried me when others described it, but it's no harder than plugging in a lamp, really. If I can do it, anybody who can stand on a shorty ladder can do it.

The evaporator fan is located in the freezer behind the back wall. If you have the ice maker remove it first then remove the screws on the top of the panel. You will notice the side brackets for the top shelf will make it hard to remve the panal but by slitly binding the center the panal came right out. The fan is held in a bracke tha co ... Swap the fan with the new one useing the new rubber monts re-connect the wires and reasymble. Put the bottom of the back panal in first then work each side in past the shelf bracket binding the center slightly.
