I noticed that the refrigerator was having trouble maintaining temperature. Thought it might be time for new one until I found out that a new frig was $5k to $7K. Just happened to notice that the light switch didn't look quite right (was not sitting sqaure to the door). Once I pressed it it came loose. I then realized the the lights we re staying on (50 watts of heating). Replaced the switch and the frig started working like new.

The new unit is working flawlessly and we are very happy with the results. Thank you for supplying a quality replacement and excellent support via the instructions. The service was outstanding and I had my unit in about 3 days!!!

Switch was not working after a repairman had fixed something else

Please bear in mind I am 65 years old & it was harder to get up & down off the floor then to change the switch. Was very easy - watched video, unplugged unit. I used the putty knife at the right front corner to work loose, when it came loose had to loose the left side a little. The unit pulled out easily. detached the wired that had a single plug with 2 prongs on it. Attached the plug, pushed new switch into place. There was no way you could place wires on wrong prong. When done, plugged refrigerator back in & checked if working. I CAN SEE THE LIGHT and the food in the freezer now. Thank you for making an easy repair.

Everything worked perfectly---thanks to the suggestion of your call center agent. She suggested that since the replacement door handles were no longer available, I should consider repainting them--it worked like a charm. Please tell her she was a life saver. We rent that house in Fl and my returning tenants had complained about the discol oring refer handles. Thank you

My old ice maker was leaking after 20 years
  • Francis from Moscow, PA
  • Easy
  • 30 - 60 mins
  • Nutdriver, Pliers, Socket set, Wrench set
I was pleased with the new ice maker and how soon I received it. I was disappointed because there were NO installation instructions that came with it. There were only service instructions that came with it. I contacted partselect and was told that they get the part from whirlpool and they are responsible for everything and was given a pho ne number to call. I called Whirlpool and was informed that they don't provide installation instructions, I said that on the web page is boldly displayed an installation instruction sheet. Whirlpool said that they expect that the installation person knows what they are doing. I let it go and was very careful taking the old one out and installing the new ice maker and the new pump.

Both light bulbs had been replaced, but lights did not turn on.
  • Richard from Arlington, MA
  • A Bit Difficult
  • 30 - 60 mins
  • Pliers, Screw drivers
I tried to remove the old light switch using a putty knife and a hammer. It was hard to compress the plastic tabs to pull it back through the hole, but all of a sudden, the lights came on. I guess banging on the switch freed-up the contacts. The new switch is now a spare part in case I need it.

Went to various websites looking for guidance. Finally went to PartSelect since I had previously purchased dryer parts. I entered the model info, etc. from my refrigerator and ordered the ice maker installation kit. The install was fairly easy and everything worked perfectly. I am very satisfied I could do the work myself versus calli ng a repair technician.

Original Ice Maker of 21 years died.
  • Daniel from Gainesville, FL
  • Really Easy
  • 30 - 60 mins
  • Nutdriver, Screw drivers
Ordered the complete ice maker kit because I wasn't sure which part went bad. I replaced the ice maker assembly first which was very easy to do. I couldn't tell if the new ice maker was doing anything. I waited almost 16 hours before the ice maker started to run and make ice. I would just say to be patient after installing these parts if you don't immediatly see anything happening. Saving the solenoid and other extra parts if needed in the future.
