  • Karl from Wellesley, MA
  • A Bit Difficult
  • 30 - 60 mins

It's self-explanatory. The procedure is obvious; it's just a little difficult. The only hard part is attaching the mounting brackets to the fan. If you can't tighten the mounting bolts, loosen them and reposition the brackets. You might end up mispositioning them at first, because they are hard to reach.

By going on line and going to PartsSelect, the check out procedures traced the problem to the start/overload relay. Using a nut driver, I removed the back panel and using their instruction, I installed the overload relay. On the next to the last step on the instruction, the sealer in the kit was already hardened. I called the service hot line at PartsSelect and they apologized and sent me another kit to finish the repair. In two days, the new kit came and the repair was complete. The whole experience with PartsSelect was great.

Remove all the shelves in freezer section. Remove the shelf support tabs by lifting them up. use phillips head screwdiver to remove back panel in freezer section. Use nut driver t o remove fan shroud. Remove old fan and save the mounting arms. Install mounting arms on new fan and install fan. Install shroud, back panel, shelf mounts and shelves. Thats it!

Refrigerator was freezing up and not cooling fresh food compartment
2 of 3 people found this instruction helpful.
  • Greg from McLoud, OK
  • Easy
  • 30 - 60 mins
  • Nutdriver, Screw drivers
The repair was easy, I removed the cover on the top front of the fresh food compartment. It housed the defrost timer which was easy to identify and replace. Just removed a screw, unplugged the wires and replaced with the new part. Unfortunately, that wasn't the only problem. I also had to replace the defrost element that the timer sen t power to. While I was at it, I replaced the defroster thermostat. The entire repair took under an hour, diagnosing the problem took the most time and effort.

New Rental, Door Bar Broken
2 of 3 people found this instruction helpful.
  • Susan from Stratford, CT
  • Really Easy
  • Less than 15 mins
  • Pliers
Just moved into a new rental home and a few days in the bar that holds all the stuff -- milk containers, juice jugs, etc. -- in the refridge door falls off. The old tenants had "fixed" it with tape on one side and paint stirrers and caulk on the other side. (No kidding -- a real overkill job they did).

I looked up the model num ber online and found this site and promptly ordered the parts for $6 plus shipping. The parts came and snapped right in perfectly. Took only a minute.

I really only had to use pliers to pull out the oodles of hard swirly caulk from the slots in the door left from the overkill job by the previous tenants.

PartsSelect is awesome! The site makes it easy to look for the part you want and the parts were perfect -- No more stuff falling out the fridge door.

PS. This form made me select the age of the appliance. I really have no idea since I just moved in and it was already here.
