The ice maker stopped making ice

  • Terry from Felton, PA

  • Socket set
I removed the two attachment screws and lifted the old icemaker out and disconnected the plug. The new one was identical to the old one so the installation was just a reversal of the removal. The water soleniod was sticking from not being used so I took it apart and cleaned it. The next morning I had ice. The part arrived at my door in le ss than 24 hours from my order placement.

Ordered new ice maker from this site . Installation was very easy. Was happy to see that many electrical plugs were included. Chose the correct electrical plug and installed in 30 minutes. One note, be patient as it takes a while for ice maker to produce ice. When I heard the sound of ice dropping in the bin, I was very happy. Just in tim e for summer cold drinks. :)

Icemaker was leaking whenever icemaker was set to on position

We followed the video on the KitchenAid website. We turned off water valve at the wall, unplugged the refrigerator, removed the old icemaker by unscrewing the three mounting screws. We unplugged old icemaker from electrical source at back of refrigerator freezer compartment and removed it. We detached the on/off bar from the old icemak er and installed it on the new icemaker. The new icemaker fit perfectly. We plugged in the electric wire to the existing power cord at the back of the refrigerator freezer compartment. We placed the new icemaker in the same position as the old, making sure the mounting screw holes were aligned. Plugged refrigerator back in and turned on the water. Works beautifully.

The ice maker quit producing ice.

First I removed the ice bin to give me room to work. Then I took out the screws that held the old ice maker in place. I disconnected the wiring. I then plugged the wires of the new ice maker into the old wiring harness. I put in the bottom screws and loosely connected the top screws. I checked the level of the ice maker with a small l evel and then tightened the screws. The nest thing was to install wire level that shuts off the ice maker when the bin is full. Finally put the ice bin back in place.

Ice maker failed

Super easy! I read all these posts but here are a couple helpful hints -

1. to remove the old icemaker definitely remove the one lower screw but then unscrew the top two screws only half way. The top screw holes on the old and new icemakers are triangle shaped so the old icemaker will simply lift off the half-unscrewed top scr ews. This makes reinstallation SO much easier.

2. carefully lower the loose icemaker enough to disconnect the wiring harness from the fridge and remove the old icemaker.

3. On installation the one thing to be careful with is the positioning of the fill tube. It's easier if it's in place when you reconnect the harness of the new icemaker because the harness is only as long as it must be.
4. hang the new icemaker on the half unscrewed top screws, snug them up, install the lower screw and flip the wire ice level sensor arm down.

I didn't even turn the water off because only a working icemaker can turn the water valve on and off.

Plugged in the power to the fridge and within an hour water filled the tray. By morning I had 2-3 batches of fresh ice in the bucket. Super easy.

Just like the others. Unplug the refrigerator. Loosen the top two screw and remove the bottom screw. Unplug the unit, plug in the new one, slid the unit over the top two screws, replace the bottom screw and tighten the top two screws. Done. I ordered the unit Sunday it was shipped Monday and arrived Phoenix Wednesday, shipper then re routed it to Tucson Thursday who sent it back to Phoenix on Friday and finallydelivered it Saturday.

I loosened the two screws on which the ice makers hangs and removed the third screw toward the back. I lifted the icemaker a bit and removed the part and unplugged the unit at rear. I reversed the process to install the new one. All very simple.

At first nothing happened, no water filling the tray. I thought there must be some other problem. A few hours later I heard ice being dumped into the ice container. I don't understand the delay but it works fine.

Original ice maker quit making ice, leaked water.

Removed the old ice maker (2 screws, about 2 minutes). Read the excellent instructions. Prepped the replacement unit by adding the mount bracket. It plugged straight into the existing fridge wiring harness. Amazing how standardized icemakers are! Total time for a very careful job was under an hour.

It came in the mail, I got home about 5pm and had it installed that evening before dinner. First load of ice was in the catcher before I went to bed.

Very nice kit, and economical compared to a new fridge!

Removed two screws, pulled the element out and disconnected the wire harness. Reversed the procedure and we were one.
Kept a close watch n the ice maker to make sure we didn't have another flood. The first time an ice cube stuck between the metal bale and the side of the freezer--we had about 50 gallon of water on the floor. Thoug ht we had it fixed and a few days later another flood. Decided to replace the unit and it is working great...Hopefully no more floods.

Ice maker quit

  • Douglas from West palm beach, FL

  • Nutdriver, Screw drivers
Looking at the instructions it looked like I had to rewire the the plug in the adapter. As it turns out, you don't .Using a screw driver, I released the braket mount and the nut driver loosened the nut holding the tray to the wall. It came right off when you lift it straight up and the wire assembly was exactly the same as the original. All I did was plug in the new ice maker, Hang the assembly on the loosen nuts and tighten again and put the screw back in the bottom bracket that held it in place. I spent longer looking at the instructions than I actually did in the whole replacement time. By morning we had a good amount of ice. EASY>>

First 1/4'' nut driver was needed. Then i proceeded
to remove the nut just below the ice maker in a
white bracket. Then i loosen the two nuts at top of
icemaker, enough to lift it off the clips. Then that
allowed me to unplug the plug in rear socket. Then
you plug in the new plug that came with icekaker
and re attach ice maker making shore the two top
clips slide into each other. Do not tighten unto you
incert bottom screw in lower bracket.Make sure
icemaker is push all the way up ,then tighen all
screws.
