Just as shown on a you tube video showing the steps involved, except I did not need to drill and tap the hole in the door. Cam repair kit contained all the correct parts.Freezer door is still working fine so I did not need to repair that door.

A very cold and brittle switch in a 17 year old fridge. Used screwdrivers to pry out with some resistance Had to cut the molded plug in half and split wires, because replacement contacts were farther apart than the original. End result, works great.

I was quoted $212.00 by a service co. to make this repair. When I investigated online @ Part Select, they had all of the parts shown on schematics of each section of the refrigerator/freezer (side by side)with part numbers shown. It was easy to find the necessary parts. The cam kit came as a package for both doors and cost $12.00 plus ship ping. Installation instructions were included. It took me an kour to make the repair. The hardest part was removing all the condiments from the shelves and remembering from which shelf they had to be returned. Net savings $200.00

broken bottom door hinge, clunked when opened

  • Diana from Salt Lake City, UT
  • A Bit Difficult
  • 15 - 30 mins
  • Socket set
I am a single female so the hardest part was lifting the door off and then trying to get it back on the hinge. I used the same bolts that were on the door so putting the new parts on was the easiest part. The slowest part was finding the right socket for the bolts and unscrewing the originals. Beats hiring a repair man.

Fridge door wouldn't close by itself

  • Charles from Englewood, CO
  • Easy
  • 15 - 30 mins

I removed the door (three screws on top). Flipped the door upside down, removed the cams, and replaced with the new ones and replaced the door. Now the door closes great. The only problem is that the door sort of "clunks" into place when I open or close it. I am not sure that I used the right cams. The drawing on the directions was n ot at all clear.

1. Used fine tip marker pen to draw outline of upper hinge position

2. unloaded food from door

3. took decorative cover off upper hing mount

4. loosened 3 screws (not completely) and lifted up upper hinge to permit upper door pin/hinge to come free.

5. lifted door off lower hinge.

6. remove broken pieces, cleaned, put in new pieces, added small amount of grease

7. put door on bottom hinge.

8. put top hinge into door

9. snugged up three screws in top hinge plate.

10. had to loosen top hinge screws and tap hinge plate around to get door to close by itself when about 1-2 inches from being closed

Best part was PartSelect save me bunches of money and got parts quickly

door and plug back in. Open door to check that the lite
