106895 Kenmore - Instructions

I have a grandson that works for Pantex. He replaced the fan and motor in less than ten minutes using only the nutdriver tool. My cost compared to local supplier and labor was about 75% less.

Killed the power to the fridge. Then, used a small, thin screwdriver to depress the clip on the bottom of the switch and wriggled the old switch out. The two wires easily came off the contacts with pliers. Connected the wires to the new switch and snapped it into the hole--clip facing down and contacts facing up. Turned the power back ... Tools needed:
- 1/4 inch nut driver or socket & ratchet (or wrench... depending on what you have available.)
- Optional: Flashlight and mirror

1 - I turned the power off.
2 - Grabbing the bottom of the cover (above the ice bin) with both hands, I pulled sharply toward me and the cover was free.
3 - I used t ... Read more he nut driver to remove the screw holding the thermistor in place against the wall of the ice bin.
4 - I used the flashlight and mirror to confirm the placement of the connector.
5 - Used my index finger to depress the locking clip and gently pulled the connector downward.
6 - I attached the new thermistor to the ice bin wall using the nut driver.
7 - I threaded the connector up to the control board and pushed it into place. (This step was the most difficult for me... I had to use the mirror to confirm that I was properly aligned.)
8 - Turned on the power (and shut off the "FAST ICE" option -- may not be available on all ice maker models).
9 - I scooped out a gallon of ice for my tea maker.
10 - A few hours I checked the bin level to confirm that the ice maker was behaving.

All in all, a very simple repair and certainly beats paying someone $200 or $300 for a five minute job.

my sensor was stuck because of age, so I had to remove the water bucket to pry it out. It is easy to see what you have to remove to get to it. Read more gnet sockets don't work on stainless steel. Later I found it is much easier to work inside the bin by pulling the entire unit out (shut off water and power, remove lower panel and disconnect drain tube). It sounds hard, but actually is easy. REMOVE THE TOP (4 screws). it stays connected because of wiring, but it allows full access and makes all kinds of repairs easy, especially pump replacement and even the circuit board behind the front panel buttons if you ever get to that point.

BTW Partselect is awesome, I have used a number of times for ice maker and dishwasher. My next project is the washing machine! Always the right part shipped very quickly.

I completely broke down the unit cleaning or replacing any part with rust. The replacement grid assembly (cutter) came from partselect within days of ordering. Replaced thermistor u

Couldn't figure out how to get the old one out till I saw the new one.Pop the old one out slide the 2 wires on the new one pop it back in place,good to go.

Popped out the old light switch with a butter knife from the bottom first, disconnected the plug in. Install was just the reverse. Super easy fix

Followed YouTube instructions. Went flawlessly!

The Condenser Fan Motor was already removed due to searching for the problem. The new fan motor looked different from the original but I felt very comfortable that Part Select had sent me the new part showing original part number changing numbers over the years. Read more ced screws and tightened then plugged the wire ribbon into the Condensor Fan Motor, plugged in the Refridgerator and it worked beautifully.

The instruction video on the Part Select Web Site made it so incredibly easy to install. Installation took under 3 minutes!

This is the second time for this repair. Seems to occur after cleaning. Make sure you get the right part. Look at the old thermistor for correct model number, they look the same but are different. Turn off machine, unsnap cover plate, unplug old thermistor, remove holding screw with nut driver, replace in reverse order, turn on ice machin ... Read more e. Next time I clean the machine I may remove the thermistor.

Pull the white cover from the front of the machine. Remove the screw that holds the thermistor body in place. Disconnect the old thermistor. Plug in the new thermistor. Snap the new thermistor body into the cover and reinsert the screw to the sidewall. Replace white cover. Complete!

Just install the new valve by reversing the process of removing the old valve. Only possible nance is with the quick release hose fittings - the collar is pushed down to release the hose. Also, be sure to FULLY reinsert the hose in the new valve. Best to twist the hose a bit when inserting so it goes through the o-ring inside the valv ... Read more e. However, the part received was the opposite design of the part removed.
It appeared this could be left hand right hand choice of part. Moreover, the button on the switch that turns the light off/on when door is open/closed was not functional due to the ... Read more part being the opposite of the part I was replacing. I tested the switch I was replacing and it appears this is not the problem. I think the light socket is the problem. I am 69 year old female and capable of doing small repairs, but limited knowledge of electrical so having to troubleshoot by trial and error. Thank you.

Removed broke wire and replaced new wire. Use gloves to pull the wire tight. That's very important.
