10686385 Kenmore Refrigerator - Instructions

Unscrewed old broken part from the kickplate and attempted to install the new clip. Mounting screws would not go into the new clip. Had to drill out the mounting holes in the plastic clip using a #30 drill bit. Once the new clip was mounted, attempted to snap the kickplate back in place. Read more not fully mate with the metal clip on the refrigerator body and would not snap all the way back to the refrigerator front surface, as the right side does. At least the kickplate doesn't fall down onto the floor on the left side as it did before. I suspect there is an alignment problem with the left side refrigerator metal clip, but have not pursued that yet.

A very cold and brittle switch in a 17 year old fridge. Used screwdrivers to pry out with some resistance Had to cut the molded plug in half and split wires, because replacement contacts were farther apart than the original. End result, works great.

My husband took the plastic cover off and took out old bulb and screwed in the new one. Then put the cover back on.

After finding water on the floor I investigated to find the leak. I Found theat the Icemaker fill tube on the back of the frig was cracked(due to someone pushing the frig back against the wall). Turned off the water supply to the icemaker. Removed the 2 screws holding the tube in place. Slid the tube out and slid the new one in. Replaced ... Read more the screws and turned the water back on. Very easy, very inexpensive.

Replaced both since they came as a set. The only way it could have been any easier is if I had the wife do it. She had the remote this time. (•¿•)

I pulled down the wire around the glass cover. . . Released on end of the wire from its holder being careful to not let the glass cover drop. Unscrewed the bulb and replaced with replacement. Easy, easy.

taped the door shut ,measured a block of wood and stuck it under the door for support.....unbolted bottom hinge,slipped on hinge bracket and reassembled.no muss no fuss.

I pried the old one out with a screw driver and pushed the new one in. I expected instructions in the box it came in but there were none.

Looked up the process on you yube and watched the repair video from the parts website

Popped the old one out with a kitchen knife and popped the new one back in. It tool less than 15 seconds!!

My owners manual said to unplug fridge from elec outlet, use a kitchen knife to gently pry off the switch plate
(manual had a pictoral example), unclip the two wire, replace with on new switch and replace the switch. Close
door and plug back in. Open door to check that the lite
works. Walla! It did. Thanks!

Please bear in mind I am 65 years old & it was harder to get up & down off the floor then to change the switch. Was very easy - watched video, unplugged unit. I used the putty knife at the right front corner to work loose, when it came loose had to loose the left side a little. The unit pulled out easily. detached the wired that had a ... Read more single plug with 2 prongs on it. Attached the plug, pushed new switch into place. There was no way you could place wires on wrong prong. When done, plugged refrigerator back in & checked if working. I CAN SEE THE LIGHT and the food in the freezer now. Thank you for making an easy repair.
