inserted a knife between the switch and the plastic interior in order to pop the switch out.
then took off the 2 wires on the old switch put them on the new switch and reinserted the switch into the plastic interior.

Super! It was so fast and easy to fix. Receive my kit in three days and save a lot of money not having to have a repairman come and do it!

removed two screws and pulled part out of the unit. The local appliance store said they needed model and part # to try to identify and order the part. I simply removed the old switch by gently pulling down on the old switch with a screwdriver. When it was about half way out I just gently pulled down on the old switch and it popped out... It was very easy to do and took under 5 mins.....The light switch works perfect....P.S. You should unplug the frig while making the connection just in case....Safety first....!!!

Unplugged refrigerator and turned off water supply. Loosened two top screws and removed bottom screw. Althought kit was supplied with multyple wiring harnesses the harness attached to unit was the correct harness for the model I was replacing. Removed and reused old shut off arm as replacement arms were shorter in reach then original. ... Read more Also reused bottom unit support that was removed and replaced with one screw into unit and then into side wall of freezer. Over all time less then 15 minutes. As this was a side by side ref/freezer unit their us limited space to view support screws. I used a mechanics mirror to find upper screws. This visualization made the process go much faster. Reading the other repair stories also gave me a huge confidence boost and insite in what to expect.

After first unplugging the refrigerator from it's electrical power source,I removed the lower screw of the ice making unit with a nut driver. I then loosened the upper two screws which hold the retainer clips that secure the unit tight to the freezer wall. First I removed the (3) screws holding the unit to the side of freezer wall with a nutdriver. Then I disconnect the Harness from the back of the freezer. You have to work the Harness off connector because it was very tight. The Unit came with the correct harness installed so I reconnected the harness to the Freezer and replaced the (3) sc ... I removed the switch housing (4 screws), replacing the switch in the housing was a snap. It took 5 minutes, cost $8 and light works like new!

Why didn't I order this part and do the repair earlier? Very simple.

Used a nutdriver and removed the lower mount nut, then loosened the the top two nuts and the icemaker lifted off, then unplugged the device and replugged it into the "old" plug(the new ones were not needed) then remounted it. It would be nice if the instructions addressed this issue.

Removed the ice brucket,
Removed the light shield by releasing one screw using a nutdriver.
Replacing the bulb and reinstalled the light shield.

The light rocker switch wasnt working. I found the part on the web site. It was so easy. I used a screw driver to pop out the old one and pop the new one in. It took 5 min. Thanks!!!

I removed the two attachment screws and lifted the old icemaker out and disconnected the plug. The new one was identical to the old one so the installation was just a reversal of the removal.
