1068608 Kenmore Refrigerator - Instructions

This was a snap. Loosened 3 screws, removed
old ice maker. Made cutout for water chute. Plugged in
wiring harness plug. Installed new ice maker. Tightened 3 screws.

These brain surgeons that charge $80.00 just to show up at my house to repair an appliance are history.

I replaced the old icemaker with a new one but the problem is still occurring in the new one. It only fill with enough water to make about two ice cubes

One front roller was flat on one side. Decided to replace all rollers at same time. Placed shims under unit and removed mounting screws for one front and one rear roller. Repair went well,took about five to ten minutes to disconnect the power from the fridge removed the defective switch installed the new one ,reconnected the power,,,and Let there be light and there was light!

I was able to transfer my old ice maker from my old Roper Refrigerator/Freezer into my new Whirlpool Sidekick Freezer. Everything transferred directly except for the water fill tube. I ordered one on line and simply cut it to the right length, removed the cover plate inside the freezer compartment and the little sticker from the outside. ... Read more Inserted tube and fastened in place with two screws (not provided but was able to use the screws that were in the holes inside the freezer before the ice maker went in. Works great. By not buying the ice maker with the freezer I saved a hundred bucks or so.

directions very well written, easy to follow, no problems

I determined that the ice cube maker was no longer heating the cubes so they could be released into the ice tray. After ordering a new unit, taking out four screws and disconnecting the quick disconnect of wires I plugged the new one in and we were back in business.

I purchased the part and put it in,

inserted a knife between the switch and the plastic interior in order to pop the switch out.
then took off the 2 wires on the old switch put them on the new switch and reinserted the switch into the plastic interior.

I inserted the new door shelf end cap into the door shelf rod and reinserted into the door

removed two screws and pulled part out of the unit. The local appliance store said they needed model and part # to try to identify and order the part. Found part select online, found the part immediately, ordered the part for $4.50 or so. Part was delivered in 2 days! Very easy installation and the part works perfectly. Thanks so muc ... Super! It was so fast and easy to fix. Receive my kit in three days and save a lot of money not having to have a repairman come and do it!

Unplugged refrigerator and turned off water supply. Loosened two top screws and removed bottom screw. Althought kit was supplied with multyple wiring harnesses the harness attached to unit was the correct harness for the model I was replacing. Removed and reused old shut off arm as replacement arms were shorter in reach then original. ... Read more Also reused bottom unit support that was removed and replaced with one screw into unit and then into side wall of freezer. Over all time less then 15 minutes. As this was a side by side ref/freezer unit their us limited space to view support screws. I used a mechanics mirror to find upper screws. This visualization made the process go much faster. Reading the other repair stories also gave me a huge confidence boost and insite in what to expect.

After first unplugging the refrigerator from it's electrical power source,I removed the lower screw of the ice making unit with a nut driver. I then loosened the upper two screws which hold the retainer clips that secure the unit tight to the freezer wall. To install just reverse the procedure.

I removed three sheet metal screws, unsnapped the electrical pigtail. Then snapped out knock out on new maker. Matched the electrical connection, pushed it in place. Finally set new one in place, leveled it, tightened the scews and walked away.
