1068569 Kenmore Refrigerator - Instructions

Friend did for me, had to take off door after disconnecting water like a power cord from top of door, now works fine, also did the cam on frig side too, works better also.

I removed three sheet metal screws, unsnapped the electrical pigtail. Then snapped out knock out on new maker. Matched the electrical connection, pushed it in place. Finally set new one in place, leveled it, tightened the scews and walked away.

I took a chance and ordered a switch that is next to the top of the door. looked for how to remove it easily done in ten minutes works fine last long time.

Order the part from the Internet on Sunday, it mailed out on Monday and I received it on Tuesday. I unplugged the fan then undone 3 screws that held the fan bracket to the refrigerator pulled it out unscrewed 3 more nuts and replaced the fan on the bracket and I cut the old wire plug off the old fan and with 2 wire nuts put it on my new f ... Read more an. Replaced the fan and bracket back on the refrigerator plugged it in and it works like a new refrigerator.

It was exactly as everyone else described--remove old ice maker, unplug, plug in new ice maker, attach new ice maker. 3 screws, 1 plug. My plug was the one on the ice maker not on the refrigerator (ie I used the wiring/plug that was already in the freezer).

Loosened two top screws using a hand held mirror and screwdriver and removed a bottom screw then unplugged the unit inside. Five minutes and repair was complete. Easy as that!

inserted a knife between the switch and the plastic interior in order to pop the switch out.
then took off the 2 wires on the old switch put them on the new switch and reinserted the switch into the plastic interior.

Super! It was so fast and easy to fix. Receive my kit in three days and save a lot of money not having to have a repairman come and do it!

I simply removed the old switch by gently pulling down on the old switch with a screwdriver. When it was about half way out I just gently pulled down on the old switch and it popped out... It was very easy to do and took under 5 mins.....The light switch works perfect....P.S. You should unplug the frig while making the connection just in case....Safety first....!!!

First empty the shelves on the refrig. door. Then removed the upper hing cover and removed the three screws holding the hinge to the body of the refrigerator. Lifted the door off the bottom hinge and placed it clear of the unit.

Installed a new cam closer, secured the cam with a screw. Hanged the door back on the lower hinge and re-installed the upper hinge. Job Complete!

Unplugged refrigerator and turned off water supply. Loosened two top screws and removed bottom screw. Althought kit was supplied with multyple wiring harnesses the harness attached to unit was the correct harness for the model I was replacing. Read more Also reused bottom unit support that was removed and replaced with one screw into unit and then into side wall of freezer. Over all time less then 15 minutes. As this was a side by side ref/freezer unit their us limited space to view support screws. I used a mechanics mirror to find upper screws. This visualization made the process go much faster. Reading the other repair stories also gave me a huge confidence boost and insite in what to expect.

After first unplugging the refrigerator from it's electrical power source,I removed the lower screw of the ice making unit with a nut driver. I then loosened the upper two screws which hold the retainer clips that secure the unit tight to the freezer wall. To install just reverse the procedure.

First I removed the (3) screws holding the unit to the side of freezer wall with a nutdriver. Then I disconnect the Harness from the back of the freezer. You have to work the Harness off connector because it was very tight. The Unit came with the correct harness installed so I reconnected the harness to the Freezer and replaced the (3) sc ... I removed the switch housing (4 screws), replacing the switch in the housing was a snap. It took 5 minutes, cost $8 and light works like new!

Why didn't I order this part and do the repair earlier? Very simple.

Used a nutdriver and removed the lower mount nut, then loosened the the top two nuts and the icemaker lifted off, then unplugged the device and replugged it into the "old" plug(the new ones were not needed) then remounted it. It would be nice if the instructions addressed this issue.
