10685397 Kenmore Refrigerator - Instructions

I took out the old socket by moving a clip. Reattached the electrical wires, clicked in the socket and that was it.

On my particular model refrigerator I only needed to remove one screw and disconnet the plug. I then slid the unit out. The new ice maker did not come with the plastic sled that was attached to the old unit. I removed and attached the sled to the new unit with 3 screws.

i noticed that no water was getting to the ice maker. rather than messing around with parts, i bought the entire unit. easy to remove old one and install new one. thanks...ice started again in about an hour. unit cost less than a service call!

put arm up to stop icemaker from creating new ice cubes. us nut driver to unscrew 3 of the nuts holding icemaker in place do not completely remove the 2 top screws. lift off the screws and unplug from inside wire connection...make sure water tub is removed and frig unplugged. clean off ice anywhere inside freezer...take out new icemake ... Read more r and connect wire plug...attach icemaker on to the 2 top screws...use nut driver to tighten into place. add and tighten bottom screw...leave arm down...replace clean and dried water tube into back and make sure it slid into ice maker...tighten screws in back and attatch water hose to tube...plug frid back on slide back into place...will start making ice in an hr or so....

I removed the 2 screws on top and the one screw underneath holding the Ice Maker to the wall of freezer.I pulled the electrical connection from the wall next (wiggled it back and forth until it came out).
I matched it up to the picture from this site and ordered the replacement unit.
When it arrived, it had a lot of extra parts ... Read more to match up to mine and any other fridge.
A good tip is to keep the old unit so you can configure the new unit the same. Although it was easy, this took me the longest of the entire job. Once this was done, it took me !0 minutes to plug the new unit into my fridge and then attach it back to the wall with the 3 screws.Not a hard job.Thanks

Removed all of the food from the door by lifting the shelves out. Unbolted the top door hinge, and lifted the door off. Replaced the cam and placed the door back on, re-bolted the top hinge and placed all of the food and shelving back into the door. The door closes and seals when it is shut.

Removed the cover plate on top. Used a wrench and the nut driver to remove the three screws & the screw holding the grounding wire. Pulled apart the plastic coupling for the wiring to light the freezer. Then with the aid of a friend - lifted the door (with food removed from door shelves) off the hinge. Read more ich we didin't know how to disconnect so we were careful to move the door slightly away from the broken hinge, set it on a stool with one person holding the door steady while the other person installed the new hinge piece. Definitely takes two people (as suggested in the directions) to both lift and guide the door into place. Once it was in place - I reinserted the screws up top and tightened them. Then had to untighten them to get the door to line up as it should vertically - so I would suggest just lighten tighen the upper screws until the door is aligned and swinging smoothly. Then reattached ground wire and plastic coupling. Works great.

Pop off six mounting screws and the ground screw. Remove the fan blade and reattach. Reinstall. Save yourself big bucks.

First I turned off water supply. Then removed the two screws that attach ice maker, then disconnected the wiring harness.

Attached new ice maker in reverse order.

Following the instructions on the site I removed the upper hinge cover and hinge(after removing the shelves from the door). I replaced both cams on the bottom hinge, reinstalled the door and the problem was solved. A couple of hints that may speed up the process: 1. Read more igned well due to a bit of interference from the metal tab on the door, so I temporarily inserted the upper hinge pivot in the bottom hole and retightened the cam. 2. I decide to re-align the freezer door . After this, the ice and water dispensers didn't work. Turns out the internal freezer light switch which also acts as a cutoff switch for the door dispensers wasn't being activated. Easy to adjust once the cause was discovered.

It's self-explanatory. The procedure is obvious; it's just a little difficult. The only hard part is attaching the mounting brackets to the fan. If you can't tighten the mounting bolts, loosen them and reposition the brackets. You might end up mispositioning them at first, because they are hard to reach.

I did some tests and determined that the tub-to-pump drain hose had a leak in it.I then looked on the web to find disassembly instructions. I have a stacked washer dryer combination in a very confined space. The repair involved disconnecting both the washer and dryer from the water, gas, electric and venting systems first, then unstacking ... Read more the dryer from the washer (not so easy, it required a helper). The machine was then pulled out so I could get at the parts necessary to remove the outside components and sheet metal. Then, I disassembled the top, front and access panel in the back. The disassembly went very well. I got access to the drain hose assembly and removed it fairly easily. I ordered a replacement drain hose assembly and found that installing the large port of the assembly was very difficult. (The two other ports were easy.) After thinking about it, I tilted the machine back a bit so I could try it from the bottom. That worked fine.I then reassembled and tested the machine. No leaks. Good luck with yours!

By going on line and going to PartsSelect, the check out procedures traced the problem to the start/overload relay. Using a nut driver, I removed the back panel and using their instruction, I installed the overload relay. On the next to the last step on the instruction, the sealer in the kit was already hardened. I called the service ... Read more hot line at PartsSelect and they apologized and sent me another kit to finish the repair. In two days, the new kit came and the repair was complete. The whole experience with PartsSelect was great.

Removed Ice tray and flap followed by the three screws that held the old ice maker in place. (I probably didn't have to remove the top two, they are designed to just loosen and lift up on the mecanism to free.) I then pulled the old wiring harness out of the original ice maker. A small screw driver helped in depressing a tab while pulling ... Read more on the harness. The same process was used to remove the wiring harness that was attached to the new replacement unit. I connected the original wiring harness that I had disconnected from the bad ice maker, and it fit perfectly into the replacement unit. No need to splice or use any of the harnesses that came with replacement. I tried installing the new unit and discovered that there was interfernce with the water feed hose. I had forgotten to break off the tab on the end of the replacement unit. Once I did that using pliers, the unit fit fine. I tightened the screws, installed the on/off mecanism and replaced the tray and flap. I then waited and waited, hoping to hear the forgotten sound of water entering the ice maker. Had a beer and walked the dogs thinking I had failed, but low and behold, over an hour later, the ice maker turned on the water. Many hours later, my wife woke me up in the middle of the night to declare we had cubes! Success.

Removed the old ice maker (2 screws, about 2 minutes). Read the excellent instructions. Prepped the replacement unit by adding the mount bracket. It plugged straight into the existing fridge wiring harness. Amazing how standardized icemakers are! Total time for a very careful job was under an hour.

Very nice kit, and economical compared to a new fridge!
