1068370 Kenmore Refrigerator - Instructions

put arm up to stop icemaker from creating new ice cubes. us nut driver to unscrew 3 of the nuts holding icemaker in place do not completely remove the 2 top screws. lift off the screws and unplug from inside wire connection...make sure water tub is removed and frig unplugged. clean off ice anywhere inside freezer...take out new icemake ... Read more r and connect wire plug...attach icemaker on to the 2 top screws...use nut driver to tighten into place. add and tighten bottom screw...leave arm down...replace clean and dried water tube into back and make sure it slid into ice maker...tighten screws in back and attatch water hose to tube...plug frid back on slide back into place...will start making ice in an hr or so....

Removed Ice tray and flap followed by the three screws that held the old ice maker in place. (I probably didn't have to remove the top two, they are designed to just loosen and lift up on the mecanism to free.) I then pulled the old wiring harness out of the original ice maker. A small screw driver helped in depressing a tab while pulling ... Read more on the harness. The same process was used to remove the wiring harness that was attached to the new replacement unit. I connected the original wiring harness that I had disconnected from the bad ice maker, and it fit perfectly into the replacement unit. No need to splice or use any of the harnesses that came with replacement. I tried installing the new unit and discovered that there was interfernce with the water feed hose. I had forgotten to break off the tab on the end of the replacement unit. Once I did that using pliers, the unit fit fine. I tightened the screws, installed the on/off mecanism and replaced the tray and flap. I then waited and waited, hoping to hear the forgotten sound of water entering the ice maker. Had a beer and walked the dogs thinking I had failed, but low and behold, over an hour later, the ice maker turned on the water. Many hours later, my wife woke me up in the middle of the night to declare we had cubes! Success.

First I turned off water supply. Then removed the two screws that attach ice maker, then disconnected the wiring harness.

Attached new ice maker in reverse order.

Simple. 1st, removed broken part to understand part (water fill tube to freezer, plastic part at top of fill tube cracked). 2nd go on your web site and look at prints to find part number, Study video to understand video. 3rd. Removed the old ice maker (2 screws, about 2 minutes). Read the excellent instructions. Prepped the replacement unit by adding the mount bracket. It plugged straight into the existing fridge wiring harness. Amazing how standardized icemakers are! Total time for a very careful job was under an hour.

removed shims on screws holding motor together, enlarged hole in mounting bracket so motor screws could also go through mounting brackets.

removed the three screws holding the old ice maker in place - unpluged the electronics .... took the new ice maker pluged in the electronics screwed in into place and we were in business and had ice within an hour.

The repair was very easy. I ordered the part from Part Seelect and the delivery was very quick.
Opened the box and took out the new ice maker. Emptied the freezer, turned off the power and the water to the Refigerator / Freezer / Iceww Maker. Took the bale arm off old unit and installed it on the new unit. Check to make sure I had the right wiring harness installed on the ic make which it was. Installed and leveled the new unit. in a little over a hour I had ice. Had to make a few adjustments to the water level setting to make sure all ice cube trays filled up completely.

So easy to do a cave man could do it.

First I removed the (3) screws holding the unit to the side of freezer wall with a nutdriver. Then I disconnect the Harness from the back of the freezer. Used a nutdriver and removed the lower mount nut, then loosened the the top two nuts and the icemaker lifted off, then unplugged the device and replugged it into the "old" plug(the new ones were not needed) then remounted it. Later it froze and emptied and refilled and started working normally. Not sure if putting water had anything to do with it or it just took some time. It would be nice if the instructions addressed this issue.

It actually took me longer to think about the repair than actually doing it. It was three screws, two upper that you just loosen and then one on the bottom that you remove. Pulled the unit out and disconnected the power. Slipped the new unit onto the two upper brackets, after connecting the power cord, tightened the bracket screws, reatta ... Read more ched the bottom set screw and I was making ice. Incredibly easy. When I ordered the replacement unit they said it would arrive in 3-5 days, but it only took a day and a half. Great experience all the way through. I'm a customer for life.

Wathced video (VERY helpful)of how to do repair to make sure it was within my capabilities to do. Made sure I had all requested numbers before ordering. I used a phillips screw driver, took the old one off, replaced the new one and it worked immediately!!! Didn't have to turn anything off...fixed in 5 minutes for $11. Fantastic Experience and my husband was shocked. No repairman bill.

Ordered new ice maker from this site . Installation was very easy. Was happy to see that many electrical plugs were included. Chose the correct electrical plug and installed in 30 minutes.
