I watched the how-to video on your website first and it made the job so much easier. Just remove the upper hinge, lift the door off, and replace the cam bushings on the bottom hinge. Put it back together in reverse order and your done! Thanks for having such an informative website! It saved me from buying a new appliance.

Replaced the refrigerator and removed doors to put the old unit in the basement as an overflow fridge. Noticed the cams broken/worn/missing on bottom door hinges. Ordered parts. When parts arrived, installed them and fridge back in operation. Parts kit had screws with slightly different sized heads, and if you used the wrong ones to mount

Please bear in mind I am 65 years old & it was harder to get up & down off the floor then to change the switch. Was very easy - watched video, unplugged unit. I used the putty knife at the right front corner to work loose, when it came loose had to loose the left side a little. The unit pulled out easily. detached the wired that had a

single plug with 2 prongs on it. Attached the plug, pushed new switch into place. There was no way you could place wires on wrong prong. When done, plugged refrigerator back in & checked if working. I CAN SEE THE LIGHT and the food in the freezer now. Thank you for making an easy repair.

Everything worked perfectly---thanks to the suggestion of your call center agent. She suggested that since the replacement door handles were no longer available, I should consider repainting them--it worked like a charm. Please tell her she was a life saver. I watched the video and then ordered the parts. My job was a little easier because the door was already tapped for a 10-32 bolt. Total time including set and tear down was less than an hour. Watching the video first made the job very simple.

After receiving the new part almost immediately, using two screw drivers, removed the broken switch from the plastic frame. Be careful not to scratch or otherwise tear the plastic...very pliable. Since the original switch was factory installed and the wires were packed in fiberglass insulation, the switch came out but the wires and clips

were still in place and could not reach the new switch. It was necessary to pull them down with bent long nose pliers...used a lot of "pull" but the wires held up.Connected the switch, turned the power on and there was light! Reports from other users really took the uncertainty out of the task.

Fridge side: Remove all door bins. Close the door. Pry off top hinge cap. Using 5/16" nut driver, remove three screws. Remove top hinge by lifting it up. Place pad on floor to prevent marring. Hold door at sides. Open door halfway and lift it up and off the bottom hinge. Do not let door fall! Set door on pad. The lower and upper cams are

different; do not mix them up (check the parts list). Remove the old lower cam from the hinge (on fridge) and install new lower cam with new screw. Remove the old upper cam from the bottom of door and install new one with shoulder screw provided. If the old cam does not have the shim, do not use the shim from kit. The kit has extra parts and screws. Lift up the door and set it on the lower hinge pin and close it. Reinstall the upper hinge and shim loosely with the three screws. Adjust the door before tightening the screws. Check that the gasket is compressed evenly all around. Open and close the door. The door should close easily. If the door does not close easily, remove it again and smear some Vaseline on the lower hinge pin and cam. Replace the door and put a little Vaseline on the upper hinge pin before inserting it into the door. Finally, replace the upper hinge cap and replace the door bins. Repeat procedure for freezer side. This fridge does not have water/ice dispenser in the door.

I tried to remove the old light switch using a putty knife and a hammer. It was hard to compress the plastic tabs to pull it back through the hole, but all of a sudden, the lights came on. I guess banging on the switch freed-up the contacts. The new switch is now a spare part in case I need it.

Refrigerator door not closing properly

This is a simple repair. the only reason it took as look as it did was because you need to empty the products from the door(s). Of course this is a good opportunity to thoroughly clean the fridge. The problem was caused by wear on the plastic spacer for the bottom hinge. Remove the plastic covers that conceal the top hinge located on

top of the refrigerator. Remove the three bolts that attach the hinge to the housing. The door can then be lifted off the bottom hinge. Remove and replace the bottom spacer. Then remove and replace the receiver in the door by prying it out with a screwdriver or pliers and popping in the new one. I put a dab of lithium grease on the hinges before I reassembled them to reduce the wear and extend the life a little. Reverse the procedure to reassemble.
