106583 Kenmore Refrigerator - Instructions

I looked at some online diagnostics info and the owner's manual. The "error code" blinking red light on the receiver unit (located adjacent to the ice bucket) indicated that the emitter/receiver units were faulty. I located the parts on the PartSelect website (their price was less than half of what they wanted on the Sears website) and ... Read more ordered them. I didn't pay for the expedited shipping and still received the parts within two days of ordering. Powered down the refrigerator, three simple screws to remove each cover for the emitter and receiver, unplug the old units and pop in the new units, replace the covers for each unit, repowered the fridge and, voila, you've got ice. I completed the repairs in less than 10 minutes. Couldn't be happier with the price, the diagnostics links/info or the prompt service. Next time I have an appliance issue, my first stop will be this website.

Removed food itmes on broken shelf. Removed old glass shelf cover. Removed broken shelf bracket. Installed new shelf bracket. Intalled new glass shelf cover. Replaced food items back on shelf

I removed the outer ice/water dispenser cover following directions I found on-line (push down and gently pry out at the bottom). I then removed several nut-head screws which were holding a plastic plate which had the door light and electric control wiring mounted in it. Read more hy my water dispencer was not working and I found the chute door for the ice maker was chewed up which allowed warm air into the chute and was causing my ice build up problem. Replacing the Control Bracket was easy. Just note how things come apart. Putting the chute door in was a little more complicated, but again, note how things come apart and you should not have a problem putting it back together.

Replacing it was very simple: remove the top door hinge by unscrewing three nuts; lift the door off the lower hinge; unscrew and remove the lower door hinge; screw the new plastic lower door closing cam on to the new door hinge; screw the new lower door hinge; lift the door back on to th ... removed old valve after finding out it leaked really bad. Got on line ordered new valve and it arrived in one day. great service from you guys. there was a little difference in the valves, push in line fitting on the new valve, screw in fittings on the old one. took less than 20 minutes to install and works great, thanks

It took less than 5 minutes to remove the old filter and install the new one. Push a button and the old one pops out, stick in the new one, and you're done.

The design of this refrigerator door (it's a side-by-side) is somewhat unbelievable. The door is designed to hold things, yet when you do the weight of the door wears out the lower door cams. The cams are designed to "complete the door closing", i.e. when you gently push on the door the cam mechanism takes over. When the cams wear, the ... Read more door fails to close. Note to others - you may mistakenly think that the failure of the door to close is related to the seal; it is not.

The repair is quite easy; remove the upper cover, using a not driver (socket), then remove the upper door bracket. Make sure you hold the door or have someone else hold it. After the fasteners are removed gently lift up on the door and remove it from the lower cam assembly. You will see two plastic cam pieces; one on the lower bracket and one on the door. Both need to be changed to effectively "renew" the door closing mechanism. Once the cams are replaced the door can be reassembled to the refrigerator.

I removed the Ice door front cover on freezer door. Found door pivot was broken. I installed door pivot bracket, and dashpot in kit. I used most of the kit to repair it. The door now works like new. Thanks for the right parts Frank

The part to fix this was a $50.00 part.
I purchased this Bracket Dispenser for $6.00 and it fit on My fridge perfectly. I just used the screw hole that was a little higher on the water dispenser. Simply cut off the broken end / or Buy a new Hose (Cost at Lowes about $6.00) guide hose along the bracket and use a socken set to reinsta ... Read more ll the screw. I followed the instructions I found on the Web Site. I took off the Ice Container and revealed the two nut screws that had to be removed. The Directions then stated the cover pops off. I pryed up the cover to discover that I was taking off the wrong two nuts. I discovered this after 10 minutes of carefully trying to remove cover and d ... Read more iscovered the foam insulation under the cover. I looked lower on the inside of the freezer door and discovered another two nut screws on the underside about a foot under where the ice container sits. Once I took the two nut screws off, the cover came right off and exposed the four nut screws holding the motor in place. I took off the wire to the motor and took the screws off. I then put the washer on the drive shaft, put it in the motor, attached the wire, and replaced the four nut screws. This was very easy, once you knew where the door was. It should be noted that you still needed to take up the two upper nut screws because they uncover the shaft. This is needed to ensure the shaft fits properly in the motor.

I emptied refrigerator contents and tilted the refrigerator to the right so as to access the metal panel upon which the evaporation tray was resting. The metal panel is on the left side underneath the refrigerator and the evaporation tray is resting on the panel. I removed 4 screws that were holding the metal panel, pressed down on the ... Read more panel, slid out the old, cracked plastic evaporation tray, inserted the new plastic evaporation tray, raised the metal panel to its original position, replaced the 4 screws, being careful not to pinched the water line that feeds the ice-maker. VOILA! Un-tilt the frig and re-stock it. It took a day for the temperature to stabilize, due to tilting, I think. New tray $45.

Replaced upper cam piece on bottom hinge and also replaced pivot thimble on upper hinge.
No problems, except pivot thimble glued in place. Had to cut up and pull out with pliers. Everything works like new now.

Removed the ice bin and turned it over. Removed the old coupling and replaced with the new one, reusing the screw that holds it in place. Then removed the cover plate over the drive shaft that comes out of the door. Pulled out the old shaft and removed the plastic ring that keeps stuff from falling into the motor area. Put the ring onto t ... Read more he new shaft and slowly put the new shaft down into the door until it seated in the motor assembly. Replaced the cover plate with the nut driver and voila! The Ice Age has returned. An easy fix once I determined that the drive shaft end was worn where it engages the coupling, causing it to slip and not move the ice dispenser arm.
