0143 - Instructions

I found the model number of the Briggs & Stratton engine on the inside of the engine housing. Ordered a new starter-rewind unit, as the old cord broke and the thing was well worn. The instructions were clear enough, but to get the old starter off I had to drill out four rivets, which just spin around when you try. I used a hacksaw, chisel ... Read more , pliers, whatever worked on each rivet; this took a while. When they were finally removed, the new starter pull unit was relatively easy to install with the small nuts and bolts provided. On the Yard Machines log splitter, putting back the engine housing is quite tricky; you have to jostle the thing into place, get the pull handle above the cover and line up the bolt holes.

The reinstall was the hardest because the amount of tension with the spring. Had to cobble something together to hold spring tension until I got the new nut plug started. To bad you don’t give instructions and or tools to help with the actual install.

The description of the parts package on your website did not appear to be in proper (size) scale However, after following a Youtube video, I was then able to decipher what parts went where to be sure I was ordering the correct parts that I needed. Parts were shipped promptly and I found that replacing just the check valve o rings and sea ... Read more ts, it cured the problem without having to use the other parts that came with the kit package. Would definitely order from this site again. BL NC
