Installation Instructions
David from ENID, OK
Unit was defective when bought
I ended up having to also replace the crankshaft bearing well as the cylinder kit. The owner thought the knocking was too much oil which led to a scori g of the cylinder when it needed crank bearing replaced. Sorry Huskvarna the first one wouldn't weedeat this was the second.

This genuine manufacturer sourced replacement part is specially made for use with a variety of handheld lawn and garden equipment. This part is installed on top of the piston/connecting rod. Its purpose is to create a seal in the cylinder so that it can build pressure. A worn or broken piston ring will allow combustion gases to escape the seal and enter the crankcase, causing low compression and a loss of power. If compression is reduced significantly, the engine will not run at all. Includes one (1) metal piston ring. Tools Required: Receptacle for draining fuel, Torx wrenches, spark plug wrench, 10mm wrench (or adjustable), long-nosed pliers, rubber mallet, standard screwdriver, old starter rope (or similar cord), adjustable pliers, 2-cycle engine oil, razor blade, ignition gapping gauge. • Remove the air cleaner • Drain the fuel • Remove the air cleaner case • Remove the carburetor • Remove the intake insulator • Remove the spark plug • Remove the engine cover • Remove the insulator gasket • Remove the starter assembly • Remove the fuel tank • Remove the air duct • Separate the engine • Bind the engine • Remove the clutch • Remove the flywheel • Remove the starter pulley • Unbind the engine • Remove the muffler • Separate the cylinder from the crankcase • Remove the piston ring • Install the piston ring

This metal ring in your engine, known as the piston ring, seals the gap between the piston and cylinder wall. It makes sure that the gases produced during combustion do not escape and that the engine maintains the pressure it needs to run. If the piston ring is damaged, oil can seep into the combustion chamber, causing your engine to exhibit rough idling and your machine emit blue smoke. To switch out a defective piston ring, detach the old ring from the piston with a screwdriver. When installing the new ring, you may need to compress it to make it fit properly. Please be aware that this genuine OEM replacement part is bought individually. It is recommended that you replace all the piston rings in your machine at once, as they tend to wear down at the same rate. Carefully review your user manual to determine how many rings your machine needs before placing your order.

This is a genuine OEM approved replacement part designed for use with Hitachi nailers. The piston is a central component of an engine. It both provides compression within the engine, as well as transfers the energy from combustion to the crankshaft (which creates rotation). This assembly includes the metal piston, ring, two retainers and the pin. Replacing the piston assembly is not the simplest repair, but it is definitely something you can do yourself. You will need a screwdriver to remove the cover and a set of sockets and wrenches for the rest of the repair.
