Saw Recoil Starter Assembly
PartSelect Number PS16275473
Manufacturer Part Number 131-160-100
"This is an OEM red recoil starter assembly for a chainsaw. The recoil starter assembly initiates the crankshaft to turn over the engine. If the recoil assembly is faulty, the engine will not turn over and the chainsaw will not start. Remove the starter assembly to examine if it is operating properly. When you pull the starter rope, tabs on the pulley and cam should catch the hub on the engine, which makes the engine turn. When the rope is retracted, the tabs should release the rope and rewind back on the pulley. Some common reasons for this part to fail are the tension spring will slide out of the slot and lose tension, the spring will break, or the slots where the spring mounts will break. For this repair, you will need to remove the screw that holds the driver onto the starter housing. "
