Hello Dawnmarie, thank you for your inquiry. The part you are referring to seems to be the door switch, part number PS12347357. We would recommend replacing it to solve the problem. A malfunctioning door switch can most probably cause this problem. We hope this helps!

Remove the drawer. Remove top shelf it's connected to by carefully lifting. Turn the shelf upside down and slide meat drawer shelf off of either side, paying attention to how it is placed. Install new meat drawer shelf, replace shelf!
