Refrigerator cycles on and of continually with a clicking noise coming from inside the box

Compressor comes on for a few seconds and goes off. It is barely cooling

Hi Ken,
Thank you for your question. If the compressor stays on for a few seconds and then turns off, the issue may be with the capacitor. It provides the voltage required to start the compressor and keep it running and allows the compressor to easily cycle on and off. This capacitor mounts directly onto the compressor start relay. If the capacitor is faulty the compressor may get unusually hot and draw excessive amperage. It the compressor overheats, it may fail to run until it cools down again. You will need to test it for continuity with a multimeter on the Rx1 setting to see if it is operating normally. Before removing and checking any part on your refrigerator, unplug it from the electrical outlet. The capacitor carries a charge. To discharge it, use a screwdriver with an insulated handle and place the metal portion of the screwdriver on the terminals for a few seconds. Then place the probes on the terminals. The reading you should receive will vary from model to model, and may be indicated on the outside of the capacitor, or in your owner’s manual. If your test does not produce the reading the manufacturer recommends, you need a replacement capacitor. If your tests do produce the recommended readings you may have a defective compressor, which will need to be tested by a qualified professional as it is a live circuit test. We hope this helps!

I ordered the parts and they were there in less time than a service tech could come out and i installed the parts and guess what for 90.00 in parts and 15 minutes in time I repaired my refrigerator. Removed the fan blade from fan motor,which was press fitted on,then removed fan motor from bracket assembly(make sure and retain the two vibration rubber washers on back and front of motor. Reinstall new motor with vibration washers and press fan blade on new motor. Install in bracket assemble and reassemnble.
I used a flat-head screwdriver to pop out the old light rocker switch. Then, I unplugged the wires, plugged them into the new light rocker switch, and then popped the new switch into the hole. That's it! Lights began working again.
