How do I expose the LED light cover (part 7) in the diagram for the water dispenser? I removed the screws under the drip pan but can’t get clear detail about removal beyond that.
Chris Boyle Profile
Hello Jen, thank you for getting in touch. After removing the screws under the drip pan the outer front trim panel is still held by snap tabs along the sides and top. Insert a plastic pry tool into the seam along the bottom to middle edge of the front dispenser trim and push slightly outward to release the side locking clips. Once those pop free tilt the bottom outward and lift upward to unhook the top flange. Before pulling the panel completely away disconnect the wire harness on the back of the UI display board. With the front panel removed, take out any remaining mounting screws on the inner frame and tilt the dispenser shield forward to expose the upper cavity. The light cover is nestled in the ceiling of the dispenser area, press the retention tab inward with a small flathead screwdriver while pulling the front edge of the cover downward, then slide it forward to disengage the rear hooks from the ceiling slots. We hope this helps.

Removing the existing filter by rotating as directed and then dislodging from 'docking' station proved difficult. Turns out, the old filter is under a bit of vacuum pressure and getting the unit to separate or release was a challenge.

  • Jake from Novato, CA
  • Easy
  • Less than 15 mins
I removed the drop-down outer housing by gently prying the sides of the two pivot pins at the rear. This gave me move 'room' to grip and slightly rotate then pull the old filter forward and away from the tight suction connection. I was concerned that I would be too forceful for the plastic assemblies and would break something; deliberate motions and a steady thought process on the problem helped disengage the darned old filter!
