How do I remove the top casing of the machine to replace damper rods?
For model number WA476DSHASU
PartSelect logo
Hi Joe, thank you for getting in touch. Based on our research, you may need to first remove the screws in the back holding the brackets in place. Then, use a putty knife, insert it into the gap between the top panel and the washer frame at the front to unlock the tabs holding the top panel. Now, you can raise the top panel and support it with a wooden block so you can replace the damper rods. We hope this helps!

Code indicating washer was NOT discharging water
Watched the video, procedure was simple and as depicted on the video. Started by using a wet shop Vac to the discharge hose and sucked as much dirty wash water out as possible. Removed the pump, and found the motor did not turn freely. Removed the motor (3 screws) and replaced the motor with new part. Reassembled the washer, everything worked as it should. After about 3-4 loads of laundry, the "Not Draining" code / problem returned. Again, sucked out the water with the Shop Vac. Checked the Filter /Cleanout and found it completely packed with MUD. Cleaned that out, and again disassembled the washer. The pump was removed and the remaining muddy gunk was cleaned from the impeller. The 3 drain lines that attached to the pump were inspected for blockage/obstruction and flushed of any muddy residue. Reassembly was quick and easy, and the washer has worked well since. I have no idea how the dirt got into the system with enough dirt to gunk up the system. Recommend keeping more frequent inspections of the cleanout trap.

The nut (referred to as spin nut or hexagon nut) which holds the tub to the motor broke into multiple pieces.
NOTE: this repair requires OEM part number DC60-50003A and what was originally provided was 6021-001573. This is important as Part Select has this mixed in their Database and I made them aware.

Otherwise once you have the correct part the repair is simple. Open the top of the washer and remove the pulsator cap, there is a 10mm bolt which is removed next, the pulsator pan (believe this is correct) can be removed with a flat head screw driver. Do so by placing the screw driver in one of the groves by where the bolt was. Once this is removed that is where this part will be. I didn’t have to remove since mine was in pieces but it comes off/goes on counter clockwise. Repeat steps to put everything back together.
