Is it safe to still use the self cleaning option?

Hi Mickey, thank you for your inquiry. According to our research, it is quite safe to use a self-cleaning oven as long as you are responsible and take precautions. We would recommend venting your kitchen with an open window or using a ventilation fan or hood. Remove the racks, any broiler pan, broiler grid, all cookware and any aluminum foil from the oven. Removing any food debris or grease. It will reduce the chances of anything catching fire. Do not use commercial oven cleaners or oven protectors in or near the self-cleaning oven. A combination of these products plus the high clean cycle temperatures may damage the porcelain finish of the oven. Glad to be of help!

Unplugged the appliance for safety. Removed two 1/4" screws that held the assembly in place. Carefully removed the wire guard that retains the glass shield. Unscrewed old light bulb and replaced with new part. Reversed the steps after cleaning glass cover.
