My refrigerator shuts off when plugged into 110vac. It starts back up when i un-plug the power cord, wait ten seconds and plug it back in. What is the problem and what is the remedy?

Hello Charles, Thank you for your inquiry. It sounds like the refrigerator may be overheating or the compressor is overheating. We recommend checking the condenser fan motor, the start relay, the overload switch, and the cold control thermostat. Also make sure both the condenser coils and evaporator coils are clean, you can do so with a coil brush or a vacuum. You can test the parts with a multimeter. Unplug the appliance. Removed the screws holding the back panel. Removed the fan blade. removed 3 screws holding the condenser fan. Remove the 3 metal brackets attached to the fan. I used a flat-head screwdriver to pop out the old light rocker switch. Then, I unplugged the wires, plugged them into the new light rocker switch, and then popped the new switch into the hole. That's it! Lights began working again.
An easy job for smaller hands. Removed the two bolts holding the light cover. Removed two electrical connections from the old switch by pinching the retaining clip,removed the switch, snapped in the new one and re-attached the connectors.
