Proper burner performance depends on a cap that matches the burner head and lies completely flat. Cracks, damaged mounting feet, or heavy buildup can cause poor ignition and an uneven flame. Inspect the burner head, ports, and igniter before ordering a replacement. Match the caps size, shape, and color to the full appliance model and burner location. Allow every surface to cool before lifting the old cap, do not force the replacement into place, and confirm that the flame burns evenly after installation.

Irregular flames or poor ignition can result from damage or buildup in the surface burner base. The base supports the burner cap, routes gas to the flame ports, and helps keep the flame pattern balanced. First remove loose debris, make sure the cap sits flat, and check the igniter for cracks or misalignment. Match the replacement to the ranges full model number, burner size, and position. Shut off both gas and electrical power before removal. Reassemble without bending the igniter or changing any gas components, then verify that the flame is even and mostly blue.
