Warren - For model number KUIX335HPS01

The machine makes ice then switches to defrost mode shortly afterwards. I have to turn it off for a few minutes to keep the ice. Eventually it will defrost and start the cycle over. Thoughts?
Hi Warren, thank you for contacting us. We would suggest checking the ice bin thermistor, part number PS11755842. It may be sending incorrect temperature readings to the control board, telling it to start a defrost cycle when one isn’t needed. You may need to replace it to fix the issue. We hope this sorts out your problem!

It said on the filter, which I successfully changed, that you pour 14 gallons of water through the water filter. Does that meant to pour 14 gallons in into the filter that I just put in? Or what else does that mean, If that is true then I remove it and put it back in (immediately)and turn ice maker back on and thats it or do I pour the water some other place which I cant figure out. And do I wait 24 hours before turning it back on? Help!!!!!!!!
Hello Terri, thank you for contacting us. Don't pour any water into the filter, and don't take it back out. "14 gallons" means the amount of water that needs to run through the new filter to flush out the air and carbon dust. Your household water supply does that automatically. Just leave the filter installed, make sure the water valve is open, and turn the ice maker back on. You don't need to wait 24 hours. Since your machine has no water spout, it flushes the filter by making ice. Throw away the first 2 to 3 bins of ice. Early batches may look cloudy or have tiny black flecks, which is harmless carbon dust. After that, the ice is clear and safe to use. Glad to be of assistance!

The water filled on startup (actually over-filled, which was a clue). After that water was used to make ice, no new water came in so the recirculation pump just made whining noises in the mostly empty reservoir. Since water could come in (on start up) I reasoned it wasn't the water inlet valve, and everything else suggested the ice maker
... Read more was getting inaccurate info about how much water was in the reservoir. Turns out, the water recirculation pump has a water level sensor built in. So while the pump itself still functioned, the water level sensor inside had gone bad. Replacing the pump fixed the issue. There are videos online that show how to accomplish that, but it was pretty straight-forward. The dis-assembly was sometimes irritating because it's hard to see and maneuver around inside. It'll help if you put the machine closer to eye level. Pay close attention to videos that show the disassembly because there are a couple of tabs that are hard to find.
