Part #WPW10434447
This dual infinite surface element switch regulates the heat output of an electric cooktop burner by controlling the voltage supplied to the heating element, allowing smooth adjustment from low simmering to high-heat cooking. Designed to power burners with both an inner and outer heating ring, it lets you select either the smaller inner ring for everyday use or both rings when additional cooking surface and heat are needed. Rated for 15 amps at 240 volts, this switch helps maintain consistent temperature performance. Replacing a worn switch can resolve issues such as a burner that won’t heat, heats inconsistently, responds unpredictably to knob adjustments, or shows signs of electrical problems like buzzing or intermittent power. Installation typically involves disconnecting the appliance from power, accessing the control panel, and transferring the wiring to the new switch.

Large element on cooktop stopped working
2 of 2 people found this instruction helpful.
  • RICK from Marietta, GA
  • A Bit Difficult
  • 1- 2 hours
  • Nutdriver, Pliers, Screw drivers
First, I shut off power to cooktop at breaker and double checked to make sure. Then I disconnected wiring and exhaust duct since the cooktop is a downdraft. After that was completed, I had to remove control knobs simply by pulling straight up. A neighbor helped me to lift the cooktop from the cabinet. After stabilizing the cooktop, I remo ved the hex nuts holding the glass in place. Then the glass lifted off easily and I could access the bad element. I took pictures of the wiring before disconnecting the wires and installed the new element. Then I reversed the procedure to put the cooktop back in the cabinet, reconnecting the electric and exhaust. I flipped the breaker back on and the element was just like new...because it was!
