Microwave Was Popping And Shooting Fire Sparks
I removed the plastic plug that held the wavecover in place and pulled the wavecover off. I replaced with new cover and it worked perfect.

GE Wave Guide Cover was fried, needed replacement
The wave guide cover (wgc) are notoriously bad on this model. As far as I can tell even a little food that gets stuck on it combined with cooking small/insubstantial items will cause the wgc to overheat and catch on fire. wave guide cover on fire
Remove white plastic button retainer (flipped out of my fingers and lost it. Found it 2 days later. Dog had chewed on it.) tabs on cover fit in nicely. New cover gets hot. Don't know if this is normal.
