replacing halogen bulbs in a Dacor exhaust vent - problem, the bulbs are flush with vent housing surface

In order to grasp the bulbs, which are flush against the vent surface, you need the 'Suction Cap' tool. However, the bulbs are solid tight in their sockets from years of heat over the stove.
