I set the knob to Normal Wash, close the door latch, and the dishwasher starts, but the timer stays stuck where I first set it and does not progress through the cycle. I have seen discussion online about the interlock door switches; if this is the problem wouldn't the dishwasher not start at all? How can I figure out if it is a problem with the switch, the timer, or something else? Thanks!
For model number HDA2100H65WW
Hello Emily, Thank you for the question. If the Door Switch was faulty it would prevent the appliance from starting and running the cycle. The Timer not advancing is normally an indication the Timer PartSelect Number PS4704218 is defective. We hope this helps!

interlock switch was bad. Prevents the dishwasher form running as it "thinks" the door is still open.
Opened door, removed screw holding down metal plate that presses against interlock switch when door is closed. Removed plastic cover thingy that is over interlock switches. Removed the interlock switch by pressing the plastic lock thingy away from switch. Pulled the wires off each end of the interlock switch. Removed new interlock switch

Dishwasher rack was rusting and partially broken
The repair only required me to lift out the old unit and set the new rack into the dishwasher. I was pleased that there was nothing to put together. The rollers were already attached.
It took longer to open the shipping box than to do the installation.
