My fridge won't accept a new filter. What part do I need?

Hello Kori, thank you for contacting us. The compatible water filter for your model is part number PS16217433. We would recommend making sure that you are properly installing the model compatible filter. You may also need to press the reset filter button after installing the filter. We hope this helps.
My freezer started not cooling, then the fridge part not cooling. Now water won't dispense. And not making ice as well. What part or parts would you suggest for replacement

Hello Amy, thank you for getting in touch. Check the evaporator fan motor, part number PS16217342. If the evaporator fan is faulty, cool air will not circulate in the refrigerator. You will also need to check the air ducts or vents and the defrost system. If the vents or air ducts are blocked due to ice buildup, you will need to clear it. Clear the condenser coils, for maximum efficiency. If the doors are not sealing properly, replace the gaskets. We hope this helps.
Hello Horace, thank you for reaching out. In your refrigerator, the water filter indicator reset is done using the "Water Filter" button on the external dispenser control panel. We hope this information helps!

I went to a GE repair center to explain my problem, the service center reccomended that I have a techinician come out o look at it. $75.00 for the visit and what ever labor and materials wuld cost.
I went on line to see if there were others having this same problem and found that there were many with the same problem.

As an experiment, I aimed a fan at the it for a while I saw that the freezer temperature dropped back to normal. .The fan is marked as 11.2 DC so I checked for voltage at the fan and found some. With three wires and no wiring diagram I wasn’t sure this answered all the questions, but hooking the fan to a 12 volt power supply didn’t get it to spin. I priced parts at a couple websites before using partselect.com . They also have a good diagram to look at (Sears diagrams are really poor). I ordered the part with 2-day shipping; it arrived on time, was correct and fixed the problem.
