Our Garbage compactor doesn't spring out as far as it use to, only about 4 inches. I thought maybe putting on a new spring would help. Do you think this would work and do you carry this part?

For model number GCG1540F1SS
Hello Charlotte, thank you for contacting us. We would recommend checking the chain drive, part number PS257884. According to our research, it is the most probable culprit. When the chain is damaged, it can get stuck and will not allow the compactor to move or reach its upper limit. Customer service is available 7 days a week if you require assistance placing an order. Thanks again for reaching out!
