.The freezer compartment stays at zero. (freezer and fridge compartments are set at default of 0 and 37 respectively) Fridge compartment temp swings erratically between 37 and high 50's and is slow to return to lower temp. I have cleaned the cooling coils underneath and replaced the fridge thermistor.

Fridge wasn't getting cold. Had a repair man come look at it. He found ice on the hoses in the back which has caused some rusting. Ice is coming from condensation. I was told i needed a part that was $500 but they no longer make. My fridge is only 5 years old.

Hi Ann, thank you for your question. If you had a technician come in to look at your appliance, then their conclusion is likely what the issue was. However when you are having temperature problems in your appliance, there are a few parts that could cause the issue. You can use a multi meter to test most of the parts. Make sure you cut power to your appliance before doing any repairs or tests. First you should test your defrost thermostat. Place the thermostat in ice cold water for 2-3 minutes after removing it from your appliance. It should be reading 0 ohms to be working correctly. Another part to check would be your defrost heater. Remove it from the appliance. It should be reading anywhere between 0 - 50 ohms to be working. You could check your temperature sensor. To find the correct reading for this part you will have to refer to your tech sheet that comes with your appliance. You can usually find this tech sheet behind the bottom grille of your fridge on either the right or left side. These are the most common parts that cause this issue in your appliance. So it is suggested you check them first. Good luck with your repair.

Replacing water filter with new pure source water & ice filter ultrawf. New filter will not lock in place. Tried putting old one back in and it will not lock either. Your help much appreciated. Thanks.

First I pulled the ice tray out so I could see the solenoid housing/ice tray support(1 unit). Below the ice tray there are 2 screws that hold the solenoid housing/ice tray support. Simple three steps... 1) There's an front section to the ice-maker to take off. One Phillips screw is on the side, one screw is underneath near the inside of the refrigerator wall. Just unscrew and store. 2) There's a small plastic unit just inside the ice maker to take out. It's held in by a small nut that requires about a 4" extension

Just unscrew and take out the unit - the unit functions just to keep the ice maker wiring in place. 3) The wiring looks a mess, but there's just one wiring connector to the ice maker assembly. Unsnap it. The ice maker is not screwed in, it just slides in -- reach in and pull the assembly straight out; when it stops, lower it a bit and it will come free. Reverse the instructions to install the new unit.

It was sitting at 33 degrees in about an hour and a half. I can’t believe I fixed it. I knew NOTHING about refrigerators. For how big my fridge is, it would have cost 3,000 and up to get a new one with the same cu ft size. Instead, it cost me $44. That includes shipping. Thank you Parts Select!!
