Freezer will freeze water but ice cream and popsicles stay soft

Thank you for your question. Ice cream and popsicles have sugar in them and they do not freeze readily like meat or vegetables do. If your freezer is not freezing ice cream or popsicles, check your owner's manual to see how much clearance is needed in the freezer for proper air circulation. There may not be enough cold air reaching the ice cream and popsicles. If the temperature inside the freezer is not cold enough to freeze these items, adjust the temperature to see if this helps. After adjusting the temperature in the refrigerator, please allow 24 hours for the temperature adjustments to take effect. If your freezer is not full, the food inside the freezer will not stay cold as the temperature will fluctuate. Frozen food in a full freezer helps maintain a steady temperature. We hope this helps! Need a complete vegie. unit, drawers and the plactic thing that holds the drawers, rentors broke everything except the glass.

According to our research, given that the evaporator fan is running, the issue is probably with the temperature control thermostat, part number PS8769007. My freezer works like it's supposed to but it's acting like the automatic defrost is not working and it will freeze up and will not shut off.

Hi Gregory, thank you for reaching out. The issue seems to be with the Defrost Thermostat and you may need to replace it, the part number is PS6448122. If that does not help, we would suggest checking the Defrost Timer, part number PS11726371, and Defrost Heater part number PS3408665. We hope this sorts out your problem!
I unplugged the refrigerator, then opened the door and removed four screws holding the plastic electrical panel to the interior top of the main refrigerator compartment and noticed the cold control was corroded badly, apparently from moisture in the panel. I ordered a new one from partselect.com. When it arrived the next day, I then pul

Read moreled off the control knob, unclipped the cold control, unplugged the three wires to the control, then removed the styrofoam insulation blocks holding the thermocouple wire and then removed the thermocouple wire to complete the removal. I then reversed the process to install the new thermostat and control. That is repositioned the thermocouple wire, put the insulation blocks back to hold the wire, then replugged the three electrical wires, clipped the control back and pushed the control knob back on and finally screwed the panel back to the top of the main compartment and plugged the refrigerator electrical cord back in to provide current to the refrigerator. It immediately started up and ran fine. Total time - about 8 minutes.
