Dacor model ERV36-ER raises and lowers constantly when turned on. At the top of travel a relay turns on to start the vent motor but then cuts out immediately then the assembly lowers. When completely lowered the cycle starts again. We also notice a slight jerk at the very top and bottom of travel.

Hello Leroy, Thank you for the question. This is normally an indication the Limit Switch in the drive motor switch is faulty. Disconnect electrical power to the downdraft vent and test continuity through the limit switches using a multimeter. Replace a limit switch if you measure the same continuity through a limit switch when the switch is activated and deactivated. If the Limit Switch is faulty, the Drive Motor Switch will need to be replaced. We hope this helps, good luck with this repair!
The downdraft vent I wanted would rise up 10". The one I ordered went up 15". Looked like the Great Wall of China on our countertop. Dacor tipped me off on the change out of the drive arm and raise arm to make it rise less. The raise arm still proved to be about 3.5" too long so I had to drill a new hole in it and lop off that much ste
