Used cooktop creme, oven cleaner and Mr. Clean sponges. After many days of working on the surface, we were able to remove 99% of the sauce.

prongs for the wiring corroded underneath solid element

Very straight forward. Uninstalled the old corroded element by unscrewing bolt and snipped the wires that were attached. By knowing how the element came out, I was able to install the new element very easily. Just slide the wires into the holes attached to the prongs and tighten down the screw.
