This safety valve is a genuine replacement part manufactured for use with air compressors. If the compressor's pressure switch malfunctions, and does not turn the motor off when the amount of pressure is met, the safety valve will open to release the extra air pressure. The amount of pressure required to open the safety valve is set by tension of the spring inside the valve. The spring can wear out, and leave the valve open at a lower pressure than what is set to turn the switch off, and will not allow pressure to build inside the tank. This safety valve has a thread sealant pre-applied, so additional thread sealant is not required, the safety valve is sold individually.

On my compressor this is leaking around the black plastic adjustment knob. Is replacing the valve the only repair for this, or is there a rebuild kit that might be cheaper?

Hi James, thank you for contacting us. There is no rebuild kit listed under your model. The pressure regulator knob comes attached to the manifold, part number PS18990701. It is not listed separately. You may need to replace it to fix the issue. We hope this sorts out your problem!

Worn piston rod and sleeve

Disassemble plastic housing around compressor unit using appropriate tools. Remove the four bolts from the compressor head using a 5/16 nut driver. Carefully remove head assembly including airline. Remove bolt through rod bearing with Allen wrench.

Reassemble with new rod and piston assembly. Best to use blue locktite on bolt through rod bearing when reassembling. Make sure to torque all bolts to specs listed.

Put the seal in and it ran like a champ. No vacuum leak and it now runs again!
