Removed the 2 bolts holding the gear head to shaft. On my model I had to remove the complete trimmer head, then using 2 wrench take the trimmer head adapter off the gear heD. Trimmer head worn out from normal use
Lay trimmer on bench so Phillips head screw on end of shaft just above trimmer head is up. Turn trimmer head until you see a gap open just below screw. Insert Allen wrench in gap. Hold in on Allen wrench with one hand while turning trimmer head to the right. Reverse threads lefty tighty ,righty loosey.
