I had a blown PCB and when I replaced that, it powered on again. However, only the steam and hot water functions work. If I push a brew button, the water pours out the purge valve. I ended up replacing the solenoid block with this part and it still only diverts water to the steam/hot water or purge valve. Any other ideas? I tried priming the pump as you described above with no luck.
Chris Boyle Profile
Hi Carter, Thank you for your question. If you push the brew button and water diverts out the purge valve, there may be an issue with the wiring harness. It may have been damaged when the board blew. For information on the wiring, you will need to contact Breville. If you have any questions, please let us know. We look forward to hearing from you!

I think my water tank valve needs to be replaced. Leaks water all over from the back about 3-8 minutes after use. Coffee comes out fine with good pressure. There is a slight issue also w the water in the front (to fill an americano) it sometimes doesn't come out in a nice stream, sometimes it comes out with a lot of air even after the :30 seconds or so that it should take to clear any air from using the wand. What needs to be replaced?
Chris Boyle Profile
Hello Liz, Thank you for the question. This is normally an indication the valve needs to be replaced. We also suggest checking the water lines for wear or damage. If you need help placing an order, customer service is open 7 days a week. Please feel free to give us a call. We look forward to hearing from you!

Breville Barista Express BES870XL
9 of 10 people found this instruction helpful.
  • Robert from Cranberry Township, PA

  • Pliers, Screw drivers
4-5 year old Barista Express started tripping the GFCI outlet during a descale / machine clean operation.

Removed the back of the machine and saw water / moisture around the right solenoid.

Ordered the entire valve solenoid kit, removed the connections, removed the old/original valve kit, then maneuvered the new valv e kit in.
Most difficult part was hooking up the hose to the spout on the far left side and then zip tying it.

If you are experiencing GFCI trips / power issues - order the entire valve kit.
Machine ran great after the replacement.
