This repair was on an LG ductless heat pump. After some period of use, the inside unit will get very dirty inside with moisture, dust, and possibly mold. To clean the insides properly, you will likely have to remove the fan blower wheel. To do this, you will have to disassemble the outside covers of the unit. There are videos on YouTube t
... Read morehat will give you some insight, but the different brands are all a little different in the way they are put together. However, it is still fairly straightforward to get access to the blower wheel. I removed the large outside cover (2 or 3 screws) and then loosened the drain tray at the bottom (also 2 or 3 screws). I did not take the drain tray off because it has the drain tube attached at the rear, and it appeared that it could be difficult to get this back together. Instead, I just removed the screws and pulled it down away from the blower wheel. I then loosened the coil assembly covering the top and front of the blower wheel (2 screws). Again, I did not try to remove the coil assembly because it has the refrigerant tubing attached. At this point, you can use a Phillips screwdriver to reach through the blower wheel on the right end and loosen the setscrew in the hub holding the blower wheel to the motor shaft. Once the screw is loosened, you can lift the coil assembly away and pull the blower wheel out to clean it. Unfortunately, while I was cleaning and drying the blower wheel (which was almost completely clogged with crud), I dropped it and it broke. I ordered the new part from this site. The part was on backorder, but after I received it, I used the reverse procedure to install the new blower wheel. The one thing that is a little tricky is that the setscrew in the blower wheel hub tightens down on a flat on the motor shaft, so you will have to be careful to get the two lined up as you push the blower wheel on the shaft because it is difficult to align them after the wheel is on the shaft. At this point, all you have to do is tighten the setscrew on the motor shaft and reassemble the unit NOTE: while you have the blower wheel out, you can get fair access to the housing inside the unit to clean it.

Main problem was removing the cowling from the LG head unit as I had no instructions on how to do it. I had watched the previous technicians that had worked on the unit remove it. Once the cowling is removed all that needs done is remove the 2 mounting screws and unplug the old motor, plug in the new motor and remount it with the 2 screws

The inside air blower for the LG mini-split collects lint and clogs up. Removing the broken blade requires removing the outer plastic housings, then screws at each end of the blower housing. Some screws at the control end require removing the control units first. There is a set screw that connects the fan to the motor shaft at the control
... Read more end. There is a missing blade in the fan to allow access. This screw was lock-tighted in place and required significant force to loosen. The new fan took some wiggling to get it onto the shaft. Then replace the screws at each end of the fan housing, followed by the control unit screws, and the plastic outer covers. It was not an easy job. I used more care with a small bottle brush to clean the second fan unit and avoided breaking that fan.
